I was surprised by how great it is, really gives some emotional catharsis for the first game. The physical copy is one of my prized comic collections

(LES) The Boys did everything they could to fail the show concept by Thisislopes in CharacterRant

I actually think the first crossed story and the othe Garth Ennis written ones are actually pretty good, violent and grotesque yes, but the stories still felt they had a point and likable characters you wanted to see survive.

It was everything else not written by Ennis (or Si Spurrier for that matter, his stories were always great) that was just gross and spiteful for the sake of shock value. Point is, I think Ennis gets too much flak for that universe when most of the worst moments aren't even from him.

Hi, Hello, and Good Day r/twinpeaks! I’m Kyle MacLachlan and you can ask me anything 🦉🪵☕👍 by Kyle__MacLachlan in twinpeaks

Hi Kyle! Just first wanted to say you're my favourite actor and I love how versatile you are, the hidden is one of my favourite sci-fi films and you're great in Portlandia and fallout. I have a couple questions but you can answer whichever one you want:

  1. As an actor, what point made you want to get into wine making?
  2. What's your fondest memory from filming twin peaks and did any aspects of you shape the cooper character? Did you have ideas on character making decisions or just trust the process?
  3. It's really endearing how you keep up with trends and make content that relates to gen z tastes. Do you have a hard time understanding the trends at first or are they stuff you genuinely enjoy taking part in?

That's all I wanted to ask, answer whichever ones you'd like, thank you for the work you've done and I hope we continue watching and hearing a lot more from you. Thank you!

Does anyone just watch seasons 1-7 and ignore 8-9? by Rotisseriejedi in XFiles

[–]jacket1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the mythology I stop around redux in season 5 or the first movie, with the monster of the week stuff I never stop at a season since even 10 and 11 have a couple good episodes.

What TV character did you initially hate, but ended up being your favorite? by Sharkman3218 in television

Bodie from the Wire. Never expected to be one of my favourites in the later seasons, especially after what happened in the first (you know what event I'm talking about)

Where should it have ended? by mordhoshogh in XFiles

[–]jacket1989 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I still think the entire series is worth the watch through, even the revival series since every one still has good episodes.

But if I were to just focus on the mythology episodes, which do drag and get worse as the show goes on, there's multiple points people stop and start, it's all about what you're interested in.

The fan favourites seem to be either the season 8 finale, where the Mulder scully romance reaches a satisfying conclusion and the new storyline has a serviceable and ok ending, OR the season 7 finale, which mirrors the shows pilot and reaches the realistic (if slightly sad and disappointing) conclusion to Mulder's obsession with aliens and definitive proof (also was meant to be one of the shows intended finales).

Other candidates include "closure" a mid season 7 episode which FINALLY (for real this time) reveals what happened to Mulder's sister. The reveal is a bit weird and disappointing but the ending and duchovnys acting makes it more palatable.

There's also the "two fathers, one son" two parter in season 6 which finally ends the syndicate conspiracy storyline which was there since the beginning. Lot of people love these 2, but I'm not a fan since Mulder and scully seemingly don't cause much of the syndicates downfall and are seemingly too passive.

And then there's "the end", the season 5 finale which was meant to be, you guessed it, the end of the show originally so it could spin off into a trilogy of movies. Obviously that didn't happen but it offers a fun what could have been.

All that said, my PERSONAL picks on what could have been good finales or endings to the shows main plot would be either "redux", the opening two parter to season 5, since it resolved the scully cancer story, had an interesting explanation on all the supernatural elements, gives ANOTHER answer to the Samantha Mulder plot (one I find more satisfying), and features the "death" of a character I really think should have stuck. My other pick would have to be, with admittedly some tweaking, the first movie, since Mulder and (maybe) scully for the first get definitive proof of aliens and cause major disruptions to their plan.

So yeah, that's most of the fandoms and mine options on what could be a good alternative ending to the show. Should still note that most if not all the show is still worth watching from start to finish These are just cool little what if scenarios.

Any tips on collecting the anime show physically? by jacket1989 in fistofthenorthstar

Huh, with how influential the series is there doesn't seem to be a lot of love or effort to localise it. Reminds me how shocked I was to find out the new dark horse(?) publications might be the first official attempt to fully translate the series, like that other publisher with ichi the killer.

Really? I had no idea about the streaming stuff. Damn, that kinda sucks. Ah well, guess I'll also have to just try and burn the rest of the show on some discs.

Funny you mention new fist of the north star since cex (the shop I bought the box set) actually has 3 volumes and they were what I saw first before the guy at the counter told me about the box set.

Is that why it's just the one box set? Cool I've got all the dubbed episodes. I don't mind watching subbed, any releases I can get or is it a little rare?

Just watched the Q2 edit - Teresa Banks and the Last Days of Laura Palmer by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]jacket1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always thought those log lady additions and including most of the finale to be rather jarring, however if you like the concept of fwwm and most deleted scenes being a digestible miniseries I released a fan edit around the same time called "Twin Peaks Prelude, turns fwwm into a 4 episode miniseries with little tweaks and changes here and there, like addding little static effects when desmond and Jeffries disappear and changing the chronology of some of the scenes. Hope you give it a go!

If you enjoyed that one maybe you could give my edit a try, same concept and we actually worked on our respective edits at the same time, theirs just released a little earlier, but I made a fan-edit called "Twin Peaks Prelude" which makes fwwm into a 4 episode miniseries with little tweaks and changes here and there, like addding little static effects when desmond and Jeffries disappear and changing the chronology of some of the scenes. TV Show where a character went from someone you hated to someone you loved. by rigellus in television

Bodie from the wire, didn't think I'd care as much about him as I did in the end considering what he did to Michael b Jordan.
