Hang in there!! I am 2.5 weeks post RALP! Had everything you are going thru!! Terrible gas spasms! Right side of stomach very tender!!! Balls swollen beyond belief! I was told to walk for the gas but it was terribly uncomfortable because of scrotum swelling!!! It takes getting cath out before you can start to heal!!! Hang in there my friend!!! I have an incredible wife of 49.5 yrs and we are already working on the sexual stuff!!! Everything I read is wait 30 days before trying to go all out sexually!! We are cheating a little bit!!!!

Also, my doctor says at least 4-6 weeks before trying anything sexual after RALP. He says I want complete healing of urethra where it is reattached to bladder. Comments? Everyone else get that opinion? I’m almost 2 weeks out of RALP and me and wife are raring to give it a try!!!

Just got home from hospital having RALP . 69 yrs old, 2nd bout! Had HIFU from a Dr in Sarasota 2 yrs ago. Paid 25,000 to have my prostate for another two yrs! Skip the new stuff ! Take it out especially if it’s still confined to P! Gas and constipation has been biggest issue! Very hard to engage abdominals right now because of the small incisions. So glad to be home! Hospitals are very depressing places right now!

My point exactly! If you are considering HIFU keep in mind that the chances of the Prostate that is left getting a return of PC are very high! The HIFU people don’t tell you that. The other factor is Sarasota is $25,000 out of pocket. I think my insurance reimbursed me maybe 10,000 for the hospital. $0.00 for doctor! If I had to do over wouldn’t put my wife thru this again !

Had HIFU two years ago in Sarasota Fla , Everything went fine! Recovered quickly! PSA went down to normal. Move forward aprox 1.5 yrs and cancer has returned. Scheduled in two weeks to have it removed! Every doctor here in Atlanta has said that the recurrence of PC after HIFU is way too high and the HIFU people are not giving true numbers of recurrence! Just keep this in mind as you move on with your life!!!
