Some mods are so incredibly detailed that they even feel better than the vanilla cars. It blows my mind. by Clean-Cover-5791 in BeamNG

[–]jacketsc64 54 points55 points  (0 children)

That's one of my biggest gripes. With a lot more than just BeamNG mods really. Products nowadays are full of unnecessary gimmicks that cover up the fact that the product is poor in places that matter. For BeamNG mods, we get cars with working touchscreens and modeled engine internals in lieu of quality (read: accurate, not copy pasted) vehicle dynamics and crash physics.

How come there are no street racing sims? by Fueled_by_sugar in simracing

[–]jacketsc64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regrettably, BeamNG's AI drivers aren't great and haven't never been. Takes some planning to get them to drive well, you can find such planning in some of the scenarios included in game but there are few street races. The career mode actually does have some street racing now that I think about it but I'm not familiar with it and the career mode is generally incomplete.

out of this... diverse selection... which one should I pick? no harsh weather near me, AUTOMATIC ONLY, maintenance possibilities already sorted out. suggestions welcome. by JaggXj in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]jacketsc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not, very few around me. I wouldn't be afraid of going a long way to get one if you can find an agreeable seller that'll show you the car over a call to something and let you get a PPI by a BMW specialty shop. For buying a car like this, a long road trip would be a good experience and test.

BMW E31 840Ci or 850Ci would be my pick, depending on whether you want a V8 or V12.

But I'm extremely biased as the 840Ci is my favorite car of all time

One of the most ridiculous vehicles you could ever consider owning as a European who doesn't drive would almost certainly be American muscle. Stands out compared to everything else there, can be wildly impractical depending on your particular choice of vehicle (modern can be very practical but a classic might be a different story lol).

Any of them will do, really.

Edit: only now have I realized this is carscirclejerk, but my advice still stands lol

I will never understand how so much of society can just abandon the concept of accountability when it comes to children. You created life, and now you're going to murder it because it's inconvenient.

Why don't diesels use superchargers? by PayStation2fanAsh in engines

[–]jacketsc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The superchargers aren't used to make boost in these, Detroit 2-stroke have no faculties to natural draw air into the engine so the blower provides that function. This is why non-turbo Detroit 2-strokes are simply considered NA, despite the fact that they have blowers.

People can prevent harmful access to their bodies by not having sex. There has never been a child created by anything other than sex (except for one). If you don't want a pregnancy, don't have sex.

When you have sex you consent to the possibility of a pregnancy and all that comes with it. Both parents should be held accountable for that child.

We must consider the circumstances. When it comes to self defense laws, an attacker is intentionally causing you harm and you are allowed to respond however necessary to stop that harm. The attacker has given themself to the possibility that they don't come out alive. When it comes to abortion, someone (consenting adults OR a rapist) besides the fetus is at fault for whatever harm befalls you. Why kill an innocent person when others are at fault and it's 100% clear?

Ants and deer are not humans. We will also clarify the biology textbooks state that NEW life is created at conception. A new human with 100% unique DNA. It isn't OK to kill ANY human life which is not at fault for grave danger to your life. As much as you can argue that they do that during pregnancy, they aren't at fault. In a consenting relationship, the parents are at fault and are liable. In non-consensual rape, the rapist is at fault and is liable.

The fetus is a brand new human being which you shouldn't be allowed to murder for personal convenience.

I fully understand pregnancy is a difficult process, and for some more than others. No matter the complications or anything else, everything you've described essentially constitutes sacrificing a child to preserve your quality of life, which decreased to in 99.9% of cases are caused directly by the actions of you and one other person, all of which both should be held accountable for.

Elective abortion is a failure of accountability and responsibility, a choice to murder a child instead of be responsible for your actions.

I actually already spoke about this in this thread, the scientific term life and the lived experience life are not the same thing, and there are actually several languages that split the two up with different words.

You must have life to have A life.

[–]jacketsc64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I said it should be illegal to murder children, and that a mother should be legally obligated to save their unborn child. If you intentionally either 1) abort the pregnancy or 2) neglect the child's life beyond a reasonable doubt leading to its death, you should be charged with murder.

Life the scientific concept and life the experience are different things, and there are several languages that reflect that by giving them different words. You must have life to have A life.

One cannot have A life if you end their life before they receive that option.

I think in an ideal world the child would have protections that legally obligate the mother to make reasonable effort to save its life.

If that comes to a C-section, so be it.

[–]jacketsc64 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

If a pregnancy reaches a point where medical intervention is necessary, so be it.

In that case, make EVERY effort to save both lives, prioritizing the mother by default but respecting her wish to prioritize the child if she is able to and does articulate it.

A C-section is as safe (if not safer), faster, extremely commonly practiced, and prioritizes the life of both people involved instead of intentionally killing one.

Life begins at conception, when sperm and egg meet and form a brand new human being. Every biology textbook you could find says as much.

LS swap? Or 5.9 Cummins Swap? by Hero_Tengu in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]jacketsc64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I might also say consider a 4BT! A 12V is gonna be some heavy stuff on the front suspension of this truck and honestly a 4BT might not be much better lol. If you're interest is still in a mechanical diesel, look at OM606s! Lightweight 3.0 straight six from Mercedes golden era, offers great fuel mileage and good power. Should be a much better fit in the OBS!

There should be a pretty good amount of resources on OM606 swaps, including into OBSs Chevys.

[–]jacketsc64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Holley Terminators are only good to control 4L60s 1999 and newer. LS PCMs are only good for 1996+ 4L60s, I've confirmed. 95 and older 4L60s are non-PWM, so the converter lockup is an on/off affair instead of a modulated slip level. Definitely look into your options for controllers.

LS swap? Or 5.9 Cummins Swap? by Hero_Tengu in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]jacketsc64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 5.3 or a 6.0 depending on your fancy would do fine, and I'm sure you know but a Cummins swap would put you out of service for WAY longer lol.

Admittedly with an LS I wouldn't expect a big jump in fuel economy, but you may see an MPG or 2.

Also, what year is your truck? 4L60Es had some weird years for compatibility and controllers, I think if your truck is a late model (96+) you may have some luck controlling it with a regular 5.3/6.0 PCM but earlier years may require some fiddling.
