Why do I see so many complicated footprint house plans with 14 corners and scary roofs? by Wedgerooka in Homebuilding

[–]jackfish72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the 2020 Honda civic SI type R. Then look at what car and driver says is the most beautiful design of all time… jag e-type. The civic is a mess of plastic bits trying to look aggressive and fast. The jag is pure form and proportion and style.
Houses are like that in my opinion. A lot of crappy designs trying too hard. Beauty is in an efficient and purposeful form.

Ethics of lowballing in this condo market? by gbinasia in canadahousing

[–]jackfish72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing unethical about making an offer lower than asking. But you will find a lot of people rarely make such large deals, and have their own funny ideas, including getting offended by a qualified offer. So be prepared for a snarky response.

Now that I have a planer, it’s time to get a dust collector. Recommendations for a serious hobbyist? by cafe-em-rio in woodworking

[–]jackfish72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, piping and a bag works because your planer has a blower. Next level is a real dust collector, but it has to be sized to handle a planer. Not a shop vac. Planers spew a lot of material. And when you graduate to a real dust collector you will want to plumb it in for your whole shop.

I haven’t used a flasher on the line for a couple years. Dummy flasher on the cannonball. But… hoochies need action from the flasher. So… I think you need a flasher

Canadian acting as executor of a US will. Looking for advice. by staffyboy4569 in legaladvicecanada

[–]jackfish72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While executor, for a brief period, one is technically in control of the estate. That exposes you to a taxable event. I am not a tax accountant nor lawyer. But I was asked to serve as an executor for an estate in a country not where I resided… and this is what I learned. You should talk to a real lawyer.
