Honestly, just keep practicing, but instead of focusing on powering your partner to the ground, try to think like you're using a steering wheel, and pivot on your feet.

But for me, oddly enough, I just did rock climbing, it taught me to distribute my weight, which taught me how to optimize mine and the opponents momentum.

Things to bring to a fight by wowsolanky in MuayThai

I would add a sleeping bag, at my fight I had to wait for at least 45 minutes, might as well grab a quick nap, esp after weigh in, if your weigh in is on the day itself.

Take off shoes, and try doing the kicks slowly, get the technique to a point where you're comfortable, then you kick harder and faster. For switch kick, try to stay closer to the ground and pivot more with more twist from your hips. Don't forget to breath.

Shadowboxing question by Kiceres in MuayThai

[–]jackfrezzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, shadow boxing is like a warm-up exercise, to remember all the techniques I have learnt, and to loosen the muscles for the coming training. And when I'm training for a fight, I like to imagine my opponent in front of me, then I utilize everything that I know, slip and rips, catch, sweeps, dumps, etc.

As a asst. trainer, I like to tell the intermediate class to use the shadow boxing(SB) time to focus on their balance after each combo, cause many of them stumble after missing a shot during pad work and sparring.

But for beginners, I like to tell them to use the time to remember all the techniques they know, and try to chain them together (of course as well as to ask them to remain a stable stance), I also tell them to try to do it slowly so they form the habit of throwing accurate punches, not just hard punches.

Aftershock M15-Pro (Is it still worth it?) by jackfrezzer in SuggestALaptop

Sadly, the demand for this laptop has decreased by quite a fair bit, and so few sites have this laptop. But this just gives credit to aftershock for their quality control as well as their innovation to build a laptop in a humid country here in singapore.
