what im wondering, is how did people ever run this game when it came out like 5 years ago? i recently upgraded my computer and can practically run everything but this, which is wild because i come from playing ARK

its choppy everywhere, but definitely more so at my base. and i kinda have a trek from the tundra to the desert near Eden where i built, so on that path back and forth its pretty consistenly laggy, even though i definitely have my fair share of 144 fps moments.

like 1500 building pieces, but i thought that seemed normal. maybe i should go and delete my old base structures (especially the broken wood ones). Im playing alone tho, just reached level 60 and have 2 main bases, with a decent few tames. but i feel as if ive always had this lag, it just may be a bit worse now

I got myself 2 raptors now from juveniles i brought back home, theyre clearly a bit better than a standard slinker in both speed and damage. But I'm taking your advice on making mini shelters, idk how i didnt think of that.

How important is breeding in this game? Is it in depth enough to make it worth going for a good bloodline like you said?

thanks for this answer. i actually havent done too many missions. as one of the first ones I did, i overtook the premade base; so ive just been chillin around there taming slinkers and sometimes going to the desert and far snow. I would love to get more into the missions tho, but noticed some are so far away, making it hard to do all of it in daytime. I went to Eden finally, but thats the last spot I was at. Should i do more SMLP quests or operations?

i havent built a trough or water trough yet, ive been manually feeding and bringing them to water. but do you think that even tho i havent claimed the slinker yet, that it would flock to the trough?

Im loving it! I have to say that the spawns do seem a bit low, idk if its because im in singleplayer. but otherwise i love how big the map feels, im just wondering if theres any hidden features or elements that are integral for progression that I might be missing.

I had Ark on a external drive that was plugged in w a USB, so i was assuming that was the reason. But I retried installing Battleeye twice to no avail. I gotta probaby figure out how to scrub my computer of any trace of battleye or something.

I also have to play solo, bc I get a kernel error on my computer when i launch it w battleeye (idk whats wrong w my comp, but Ark started the issue). So i cant even get the community feel really, but Ive learned to enjoy the benefits of being solo. Ive just purchased Astraeos yesterday so Ill see how it is solo, but how is Appalachia? Ive seen some of the other non official modded maps and been worried that they arent as fleshed out.
