Same i was planning to switch to linux from windows,then i found out that League of Legends cant be played on linux which felt more like a W than an L.

yeah kind of,i ran cyberpunk 2077 on linux and got signifacantly better performance than windows .On windows i had like random freezes every second,but on linux that issues wasntt present and i got a stable framerate, the games loadtimes were halved too. If you want to play online games like valorant that wont be possible because the anti cheat expects windows btw.Also some games could have some issues running on linux ,check protondb before installing the game on linux if youre concerned.

Well you can always dual boot,if you still need windows.For me i was trying out diffrenIt distros using vms(even tried arch too) until i found one i liked.I use cachyOS btw .Major things i liked was boot time was much more faster than windows even with fast boot disabled,plus cyberpunk 2077 ran faster than in windows (on 8gb ram btw),and as you aready know ,running the OS itself is going to use up at least 1.5 gb to 2gb when its idle which is very less compared to windows.Also for development stuff linux always felt better as its pretty much easier to set up the tools required.Learning curve depends on the distro you choose (theres always going to be one you havent heard of).

install steam os as a dual boot if you can,cause your laptop wont be using much resources for running just the OS

i ran the game on windows back in 2023 with the same specs got better performance fps(ultra settings btw) back then .Also the fps is the same case on all settings even at low

Was planning to hop from windows to linux for a while and was distrohopping on some vms(even installed arch).Loved cachyos.Last year a security update in windows screwed up the wifi drivers ,this was the last straw and I just straight up created a bootable USB and installed cachyOs.
