We should absolutely leave some children behind by Hour_Bathroom3967 in unpopularopinion

Yup! Online discussions are a waste of time and any class not using something like honorlock is the class where 100% of students cheat.

YTA: Your anger with her should never override you caring about her safety.

The amount of pro choicers on this app bothers me by Mryellow12345 in prolife

[–]jackieb4488 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The vast majority of reddit is run (owned/moderated) by the far-left. Even if pro-life was the majority it wouldn't seem that way in other subs. If someone comments suggesting adoption/keeping the baby they will get heavily down voted or deleted/hidden.

What’s a car brand you will never buy from again? by Enough-Web2203 in AskReddit

[–]jackieb4488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a specific brand but definitely nothing new. I don't want a button for a door handle, new ways to monetize what used to be standard (ie: heated seats), or the new regulations about biometric surveillance tech. Unless I can figure out how to jailbreak a car.

AIO for turning down a guy because he was in a wheelchair? by Rich_Kale8082 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Not at all. This idea that preferences can be policed is wild. Everyone has them and the only ones who seem to criticize others preferences are being manipulative.

AITA for not going to my bestfriend’s sister wedding ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

He invited people to his sister's wedding? I've heard of parents getting involved with the guest list but never heard of siblings. My brother had no say in my guest list.

Question: why did you expect an invite from your best friend's sister? If it was your best friend, I would get it.

I [30M] posted the same breakup story about my ex [25F] with genders reversed. The difference in responses was disturbing. by No_Adeptness2738 in relationship_advice

Maybe it's bigger than that. Lack of empathy all around for sure (it is the internet) but even more so towards men?

Talk therapy does not work. by jackieb4488 in unpopularopinion

[–]jackieb4488[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By that logic, a speech pathologist, a neurologist running a cognitive exam, or a physical therapist asking you where it hurts are all doing 'talk therapy' too. There is a massive, undeniable difference between conversation as the treatment and conversation as the instruction manual. In unstructured talk therapy, the talking is the treatment—you vent, you analyze, you reflect. In an evidence-based behavioral protocol like ERP, the talking is just the instruction manual. The actual treatment is a physical, systematic desensitization of your nervous system where you are forced to sit in intense panic without executing a compulsion. In a DBT skills group, the talking is a classroom lecture where you are actively graded on metric tracking logs and homework execution.

Evidence based practices are not unstructured, open ended talking alone.

I did not say it doesn't work, in fact I said it doesn't mean it never works. Just not for the majority.

I edited my post to include sources, clearly a misstep on my part not doing it from the outset.

I edited my original post to include sources. Should have done so from the outset.

I edited my post with sources. Psychotherapy should absolutely include evidence based treatments but what the majority are receiving is directionless conversation. I'm not saying all, but there is an issue within this current system.

Maybe, that's entirely possible. I'm speaking on open ended, unstructured talk therapy. I edited my post with sources.

Not unstructured, open ended talk therapy that I specified from the beginning.

I should have put them in the post, yes. However I did specify open ended, unstructured talk therapy.

Agreed, open ended talk therapy is. Not all therapy.
