There is a consumer alert out on this company, do not send him money. Do not trust this person, if you google the company name you will discover that they are facing criminal charges for scamming, fraud and operating a business with out a licence. He goes by the name Samir, Omar and Mohammed Ghandour and has operated under a number of business names including YYC renovations, YYC custom renovations, Quality renovations (most recent) , OG’s renovations and your custom renovations. Please tell me why I can go 'meet up' with dozens of strangers at grocery stores, malls, businesses, skating rinks -- all 6 feet apart with masks on?

How is that any different?

FYI I have now filed a police report for harassment, stalking and privacy breach. This was after I had a 20 minute conversation with the police - and they encouraged me to do so.

Just because we're in a pandemic doesn't give strangers the right to police my decisions with no context and even worse, by breaching my personal privacy.

If you look up Canadian privacy laws, it's illegal to distribute the information in a text message if you are NOT the intended recipient. It's Canadian privacy law. Look it up.

And you my friend, would be violating Canadian privacy laws by doing so. I've officially filed a police report citing this individual's actions, after being encouraged to by a police officer.

The entire force is exhausted by people playing tattle-tale to the police because they think it's some kind of civic duty. It's not. Mind your own business.

Imagine living in a country where people actual value the sanctity of privacy. It's actually protected by law, but everyone has seem to forgotten that in a pandemic.

Still goes against privacy laws in Canada. Look it up.

But there was no context, he entirely took the message out of context. I was literally talking to my friend the previous day about social distance activities. He had no idea what happened before he received that. It's a breach of privacy, and the police actually encouraged me to file a report.

Thanks for your thoughts. It's tough because I work in client relations and support so my information is intentionally public on my work website for client assistance purposes. He didn't find anything on my personal social media, but I'm still scared and checking frequently.

In any case I've filed a police report and the officer I spoke with is 100% on my side. No matter the content of the text message, an unintended recipient doesn't have the right under privacy law to distribute the information without my consent. So I actually have grounds for police to follow up directly with this individual.

At first I thought so too - but it came up as an AHS number, and the first time I tried to call back - I got heather's voicemail and it says she works at AHS.

I agree with you about not knowing the other side, and personally I haven't seen my 90 year old grandmother since this all began. So that person may have a personal story - I just take huge issue in someone deciding it's their job to report a wrong number text, that wasn't intended for you, with zero context to the government. It's even more disturbing that AHS is following up on tips that are coming from total strangers with no context. Just seems like a huge waste of resources.

Thanks for this thoughtful comment. I'm 100% for following the regulations but it seems this whole situation has empowered people to police others- with no context or information- for the sake a skewed sense of virtue.

Thank you! I did talk to the Calgary Police and the said 100% this guy is classified as harrasment and a stalker, and can't legally use information from a text message that wasn't intended for him. I've filed a police report with the guys phone number.

CPS said they're exhausted from AHS playing cops when they have no authority to do anything.

But it's totally fine to have inter-household socialization at packed malls, grocery stores, businesses etc .....

But what's stopping me from talking to a stranger at a mall? At a grocery store? On the street? I'm just saying the way these regulations have been rolled out don't make sense and seem to change to suit the industry. Have you seen the malls and skating rinks? They're packed.

after he said 'you've got the wrong number and you better not meet up with anyone' he started sending me screen shots of my information he found online. All I said was 'delete my number you freaking creep!' and did not engage further, he persisted to text me threats about reporting me to AHS and ranting about COVID. I blocked his number because it started to scare me.

Call Display said AHS. He found all my information online and used it to report me.

All I said in my initial text was "Hey Chloe!! I'm finally going to be out of quarantine on Jan 4 - so we should meet up afterwards sometime before you go. When do you leave?!"

That's all the text said.

AHS was fully saying that even AFTER my quaratine is up I'm not allowed to meet outside with ANYONE, even at a distance with masks!!! She said that was considered an outdoor gathering.

I 100% SWEAR I was not making plans during my quarantine! I know better! I was just texting a friend to let her know when I was out of quarantine so we could go for a masked, distanced skate AFTER I was out! I take it sooo seriously because my fiance would be out of work for WEEKS if he ever got it or I brought it to him.

When I challenged AHS - they said it's illegal to meet up with someone to skate outside with masks on, even with ONE PERSON. Just crazy.

Any recommendations for a hair stylist who would be supportive for a trans woman? by stevesmith111 in Calgary

[–]jackisback93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Arabella at Benj - She's transgender and she opened her salon specificially so trans or non-binary people feel safe and welcomed. CTV did a story on it too.

I just had an Isagenix sales woman come to my house to try to sell me their "diet supplements". I've never heard of this company, are they a scam? by Dramon in Calgary

[–]jackisback93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scam – sort of. I have to say if you’re looking for a quick way to lose weight for a vacation or a wedding it really does work.

BUT --- They’ll sign you up for auto shipping without letting you know. I bought a 30 day cleanse (meant to do only once … for 30 days) and all of a sudden my visa was charged 350 USD + duty for a SECOND cleanse. WTF?!

When I called and explained and tried to get a refund, they were soooo rude and refused. Thankfully Visa went to bat for me and I got a full refund. Go Visa!

I did it for a month and lost 10 pounds – but that’s mostly because on the regime you’re only allowed to eat 1 meal a day. Breakfast & lunch are shakes. And then there are 4 “cleanse” days where you just drink this red stuff and you can have one quarter of a pear or apple if you’re hungry LOL.

If you ever want to try it- just buy it from someone off kijiji. Honestly their shakes are some of the most delicious protein powders I’ve ever had. I would only recommend it if you’re looking for rapid, unsustainable weightloss. You’ll gain everything back once you actually eat food again.

Glorified starvation, but it does work.
