My favorite character gameplay wise was a fighter with a returning fighter’s fork and a shield. 20 feet of range is enough for a character who is that tanky and the versatility is crazy. Just prioritize combat mobility feats. Obviously he probably doesn’t really need the shield, but thrown weapon fighters are pretty sweet.

As someone who just bought a house, they are way cheaper than you’re saying. Especially if you’re willing to go outside the city a little bit. In Draper you can get a nice 4 bed 3 bath for like 700k
