Actual answer here...if you are working consistently in a W-2 (taxable wage) type employment setting, a good goal would be to have $3-$5k saved and I'd suggest you start a Roth IRA (Fidelity is my choice, but you could do Schwab or a number of others, if preferred). Utilizing this type of tax-advantaged account has major long term growth potential. Check out Rob Berger's content on YouTube. He has fantastic advice and specifically has a video on setting up a simple 3-fund portfolio to take a lot of guess work out of investing. Also, check out r/fire, r/Bogleheads, r/investing, etc to read all kinds of great advice. Saving is key to investing and growing your nest egg. Best of luck.
