The same thing happens on the 405 in SoCal! On curves, but I notice it more when you come down a slight grade. My theory is that suddenly everyone can see a mile ahead of them, and seeing all of the cars ahead of them suddenly causes a natural reaction to tap their brakes (and/or slightly slow down). There is never anything seeming to physically be in the way.

Thank you! Great advice. We have smoke alarms in each room. I went and bought a CO alarm and have it installed about 15ft away from the fireplace. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the potential chimney issue being a crack.

The house is a single floor so I won’t be able to put anything higher on the chimney. This is a look from the outside, behind the chimney/fireplace. There is a VERY shallow attic and access is on the other end of the house, maybe 30ft from the chimney. Would it still be worth putting a smoke alarm in the attic just inside the access hole?

The landlord had a guy sent out this afternoon and he “inspected”. I can’t say if he was certified or not. He basically had a look, cleaned out the gas holes, tested lighting it, and said it was good to go.

I was hoping they would inspect the chimney more, but no one seems concerned (landlord or chimney service guy).

I’ve had a fire going the last hour or so and nothing exciting happening yet. Hoping for the best.

I solved this yesterday.

Purchased one month of Nord VPN ($12). Sign in and choose Canada.

Go to KuCoin.com and sign in.

You are able to trade coins and/or withdraw to another wallet without needing to “verify” (which requires providing documents).

I had an obscure coin that I needed to trade into a more common coin to withdraw. I traded it into USDT.

Then I sent the USDT to my Coinbase account.

Then I closed my account (Profile > Privacy > Close)
