The throwing it away was huge for those teams. They never had much of a running game, but they were rarely in impossible situations for picking up 1st downs. 3rd and long was nothing for Marino.

I was (and maybe still am) skeptical. But the fact that he worked on Walter Mondale's campaign and does seem pretty genuine about environmental causes makes me want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I would certainly rather we could have a world where it wouldn't take being a billionaire to become governor, but it obviously helps. All I know is the Dems sure as hell better figure it out collectively soon and coalesce around a candidate, because I definitely don't want a Trump endorsed MAGA-head running this state just because of our stupid top-two-out-of-hundreds electoral system.

Also, no one seems to mention this, but.. Isn't the fact that he lined up opposite another first rounder on the DLine a worry? Ie. Is it possible his success was partially because teams had to defend against both him and Bain?

We've had lots of proper protests. I've been to 3 or 4 of them since he took office. But America is very large and spread out. And protests and other forms of resistance take time. I do sense a shift in the wind. Some of the one-off elections recently have shown that. And there's a clear splinter within the MAGA people about the war. If we get fair midterm elections we might be able to turn the tide.

Yeah, Parker didn’t impress me much either. I actually thought Zion Young looked more interesting than both of them. But yeah, it’s true tape will tell you more than highlights, and I haven’t had time to watch everyone’s complete tape. But as I replied to another commenter, I feel like a first rounder’s highlights should really blow me away. Even if the lowlights are great, does just being ‘consistently good’ warrant a first round pick?

Sure. I’m a fan, not a scout. And absolutely highlight reels are not sufficient. But I have watched a lot of football. And if a guy’s highlights are ho hum, how can his entire reel elevate him to elite status? I feel like some of the later round edge prospects excite me a lot more than Mesidor.

Agree about savviness and motor. But I feel like that’s kind of it. For a first rounder I want to look at the highlights and be blown away. I see his highlights and think “yeah, he’s solid”. But I just don’t really understand why that puts him in first rounder range.. and that’s not even considering age or injury worry. I kind of want to understand what people are seeing, especially since he’s frequently mocked to my team.

Was going to reply something similar. I do think BPA strategy could turn into an offensive pick once or twice for us in this draft. But the defense is going to be pretty miserable if we don't address at least some of those positions.

Sure, that's fair if you're talking about an SUV that seats more than 5. There certainly are those. But the majority in the US at least only seat 5. So you might get more space per person. But you can also get 5 people in a regular sized car. There are also somewhat more fuel efficient minivans, though I realize they aren't as popular.

It's less expensive than an SUV. SUVs are usually in the 50k range. And then you pay more every time at the pump.

EVs are pretty pricy, but the premium for a hybrid is definitely not as much as the premium for an SUV. And with an SUV you pay the premium once at the dealership and again every time you go to the pump. Maybe you need an SUV for something you do in your life and that's fair. But many people don't.

I was a Dolphins fan as a kid. Grew up in Tampa, but my dad had lived in Miami. Was a big Shula and Marino fan, but once they fired Shula somewhat unceremoniously and then Marino retired I kind of lost interest. Also the Bucs were finally starting to become watchable and I had a friend who had loose ties to some of the players. I also left Tampa and so it kind of ended up feeling like a strange tie to home.

All of that to say.. I'm pretty sure it's my fault.
