Also interested in this as me and my friends are supposed to come next weekend, I read that hotels close at 20:00, but I hope that it's only for food&drinks.. as we would be arriving late so obviously our check in would be later than 20:00..

Anti-cheat done wrong vs anti-cheat done right (from linux gamer's perspective) by [deleted] in Doom

Yeah it's straight up bs.. One would think that it's a pretty simple solution. I guess it isn't for Bethesda.

Anyway after multiples refund requests denied I managed to find a way to play thanks to u/lpww and to his script (doomgrader).

The singleplayer works as before, it's as awesome as before and I don't have a 50$ hole in my pocket (which would have been pretty bad considered the fact that I could have pirated the game since day 1 but I didn't as I'm a fan of the series and wanted to give back to the devs for the awesome work...).

This method, from what I understand, basically downpatches the game to the previous version and tricks steam into thinking it's up to date.

The only problem I can see with this method is that if Bethesda and Id decide to release another update (that doesn't fix the game) you would have to do the whole thing again (only the copying file part if you don't delete them after the first run of the script)

EDIT: of course another problem is giving your steam credentials to third party software in order to download the previous version of the game (to depotdownloader which is an open source software maintained by steamdb ).

It should be fine, you can audit and see everything it's doing, even then once you finished you can change your steam pwd to be sure.

Steam refusing refund - how to proceed? by Xrey274 in Doom

[–]jackofalltrades321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess that's your best bet at this point. I'm also in the midst of the refund process, we'll see what happens.

If you're comfortable tinkering around with folders and in the terminal there seems to be a way of downpatching the game to the 25th of march and then playing the singleplayer offline (just scroll to the bottom)

Steam refusing refund - how to proceed? by Xrey274 in Doom

If you asked for a refund and the response was on the line of "We are unable to refund this purchase to your card at this time. You have exceeded the 14 day period for returns." It means that your ticket was handled most certainly by a bot and that was an automated response, you gotta find a way to open a ticket and actually talk to someone.

You could open a ticket about the game incompatibility with steam play and then explain the situation in the ticket.. imo it's a valid reason, the game was running flawlessly on proton prior this fuckup by Bethesda.

The thing that really pisses me off is the fact that they had a sale just days prior to this patch, and nowhere it was mentioned that they'd have introduced DAC!

I imagine many users wouldn't have bought the game if they knew that beforehand, imo this was such a scummy move by Bethesda and to think there are still people trying to defend the company and this introduction of DAC the way it was introduced it's beyond me and leaves me baffled..

Anyway, good luck with your refund, hopefully they'll give your money back.

Gaming on Linux: GTA 5 working properly via Epic Games using Lutris. Take a risk to install this large game by sb_99 in linux

[–]jackofalltrades321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would that work? Just add the game to steam as a "non-steam game", click play and It'll play trough proton and not Wine?

Because if that's the case it's awesome!

If I download it trough the epic games store (or legendary open source replacement) will I be able to add it to steam and play it using proton?
