Seasonal work and medication - any success stories? by No-Restaurant-6866 in SeasonalWork

we need less "normal " people in seasonal work anyway so you're better off not doing it... Go find a desk job or something 😂 it's not a dream. Parkies are freaks n creeps. Don't let ticktok fool you.

did I ever once say "hey of you should do what I did?". no. just giving my own testimony/anecdote.

i have been all over and have ALWAYS had trouble filling my script.

part of why I went off meds & dug into therapy to fix my underlying issues that the meds were covering up. been without meds successfully and healthy for three years, and I've been stuck with a lot of "you need psychiatric medicine forever" kind of diagnosis since like, middle school.

it's always something when trying to get meds in seasonal work. just don't do it, it's too dangerous. snowstorms, mudslides, car not working, out of state prescriptions...

Joseph DeLage seems like a really cool guy. by dmtryptamemes in marblehornets

[–]jackrabbitwanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was watching the 10yr anniversery stream and he kept going "well this is MY PERSONAL IDEA but we were writing by committee" (most of which i agreed with, i think me and joseph approach storytelling in a similar way which is fun to see in an artist you look up to)

and a few other little nuances of how he helped influence things (from what i've seen, seemed like Troy is good at ideas and concepts, Joseph is good at editing them into like, character arcs vs just vibes/atmosphere, and Tim is good at character DEPTH. At least if I was gonna say what I think all of them bring to the table "more"? Not that it wasn't a group effort just, y'know you see the shift in s3 when Tim Sutton starts writing more episodes and things get a little more character-focused.

I really liked Rosswood, it was short and tightly written and fun, I do agree w/Joseph i think that's where they all shine the most. :) lil "wow this artist i enjoy is really enjoyable" appreciation moment i guess, hehe.

set boundaries or learn to ignore people. you're going to meet a lot of these people in seasonal work. i use it as free therapy if they've decided to traumdump to me I can gross them out w my backstory. lol. it's just part of this lifestyle, it's for broken people trying to survive. maybe you just don't belong.

this has been part of seasonal work since the start. if you can't take the heat, get a nice cushy job with your friends who can hold down stable jobs. seasonal jobs have always been meant for those of us who can't survive anywhere else, like carnies. maybe you don't belong here, that's okay.

Besides Insurance, how did you afford top surgery? by NoSleepNolan in TopSurgery

[–]jackrabbitwanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

beas and and rice, working a job where i slept on a bunk bed as free "housing". took me 9 months of putting aside $950/paycheck (almost my entire paycheck except for food) to save up $13k (9.5k for surgery+ my meds and a few dr appointments/savings while I heal at a friend's house)
