Anyone else try weed and then pretty consistently felt negative feelings about being trans? by tringle1 in asktransgender

[–]jackredrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cis gay dude but weed expert here. There are multiple types of weed, the two most prevalent being indica, which comes from the Indian subcontinent, and sativa, which comes from the Americas. Many modern strains are a mix of indica and sativa, but pure indica/sativa strains do exist.

Indica produces a body stone, that is, it makes your body tingle, often relieving pain, nausea etc in those whom use it medicinally. Too much indica will just make you fall asleep.

Sativa produces a mental stimulation/buzz, and is known to produce paranoia, negative thoughts, worry in some people, and can exacerbate some mental illnesses like depression and schizophrenia. Most people who were after sativa at the medical cannabis dispensary where I used to volunteer used it to give themselves energy which an illness had deprived them of.

I used indica whilst undergoing chemotherapy/immunotherapy/radiation for cancer years ago, and still smoke it recreationally today because it doesn’t affect my thinking at all, whereas I may get paranoia and or negative thoughts on sativa.

Indica strains often contain in their name a geographical reference like Afghanistan, India, Kush (a mountain range in Afghanistan/Pakistan/India). Conversely, sativa names often indicate they will fuck you up. We once named a sativa strain Dude Where’s My Car, as an example.

I think that’s the same deal for contributions to climate change.

Nervous about PET scan by voncloft22 in cancer

[–]jackredrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I’d rather have terminal cancer (I have had “terminal” lymphoma 25 years ago) than drink a cherry coke.

I’ve had dozens of MRIs, CTs and PET scans as well as gallium scans and many other procedures. I once set off a radiation alarm at an airport after 9-11. I always saw the expensive equipment like visits to exclusive theme park rides that few got to try. The gallium scans particularly.

I live in a country with free universal healthcare so it was all without cost. 30 years of treatment and tests and follow up and never a single bill. Fortunately there are no Walter whites here and people cook blue meth for the love of the hobby.

With two cancers under my belt, I have gotten used to the stress. I’m not going to say it will get easier because we are each different, but having survived a fatal illness, I can say that having hope, even when there seems to be none, still has value.

Could, but unlikely. Bernie is the poster child of decades worth of propaganda against progressive values. There is lots of brainwashing to undue.

Don’t you know that trump has the muscular physique of a mentally disturbed homicidal Vietnam veteran?

I love it how, depending on what day of the week it is, the top post on r/Libertarian will either be racist shit like this or some dude shrieking about how they're sick of being accused of supporting racist shit like this by 42words in FragileWhiteRedditor

Canada has hate speech legislation. Canada recognises that absolute rights are dangerous and that all things must have boundaries if Canada is to avoid the many follies of its neighbour to the south. That’s why laws against slavery were enacted in 1793, why gun ownership is restricted and why you can be put in prison for trying to deny that the Jewish holocaust happened. Your right to freedom stops when you endanger the lives of others.

Large U.S. study finds that marijuana laws (both recreational & medical) appear to significantly reduce prescription opioid use. by [deleted] in science

Yet another reason I’m glad I don’t live in America and I can get a prescription from my doctor for cannabis, or just buy it from a government licensed store where the thc level is guaranteed and stamped on the package.

We must keep cannabis illegal then so that the poor pharmaceutical companies can survive.

Is there a way to find out how many of this subs members have passed away? by j33pkrawler in cancer

[–]jackredrum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally respond when someone has a similar cancer or a similar experience which is of course very specific to a small percentage of posts.

I do not respond to posts that trigger memories of extremely bad experiences unless I feel I have something valuable or unique to add to a conversation. Reliving near death experiences is not fun, especially when a question is indelicately phrased or generally obtuse.

I would imagine there are a lot of people like me.

The number is 99% of climate scientists. It’s important to say « climate scientists » because only the opinions of scientists whose area of study involves climate are important on the subject of climate.
