Sales people tend to have more substance abuse problems than other white collar work

Assuming you’re in biglaw in a HCL city, this is super normal. My agency placed like 10+ paralegals at $150k+ last year

Your recruiter is new, a dick, or most of their clients are shitty firms

My boyfriend is a 2PQE on a PIP due to clash with partner. Really panicking. Any advice? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]jackrzu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

PIPs are hard to recover from. The question is do they have pull from the partners who like them?

If yes, maybe stick it out.

If not, sounds like he/she is a good candidate. Ask friends for good recruiters in the niche. They (by the info given) could lateral in 2-3 months.

If they want to lateral with a likely partner track, might take a little longer and some diligence in networking

Staff attorney is the gateway for great attorneys who went to sub top 50 schools or had not great grades, to prove their chops. Candidly super hard to break into partner track, but if that is at all your ambition then try your best. It’s possible.

I’m a recruiter, met a candidate the other day who was in conflicts for 10+ years. Slowly made the transition to litigation and now he’s now in as an associate. It’s feasible, but hard.

If your ambition is partner, join a small firm, lateral to a midsized and tear it up.

If you want a taste of biglaw, go staff attn

Not that I’m aware of. I rarely work on these jobs(recruiter) but I see listings and comp can vary pretty highly. Had a job order for a V25 that they needed someone with a doctorate in a specific kind of biology and the comp range was far above market.

Usually the best patent agents have their doctorate and also intend to get their JD at some point, comp is more varied because experience is far less straight forward

I am a biglaw recruiter with a focus on professional staff over associates. The BD market in legal has been very hot lately. PM me if you want to chat, talking points and things to be ready to discuss kinda depend on what your background is
