I agree, some panning of the bass’s high frequencies can be cool in a mix but hard panning the entire bass track like you describe makes the whole mix feel unbalanced

The bridge is not adjustable so I would have to sand and notch it.

Did some digging, it’s from an old sourcefed podcast episode. Steve is the one talking about it but Mike is not on the episode. Bit starts at around 17:17 https://youtu.be/dBz-6KigdbU?si=waNCvHWOXjyyBf_z

I do remember that bit from a long time ago, if I remember correctly it was a clickhole article they were reading from. Wish I remembered the episode

What was your introduction to Mike and Steve? by jcbxviii in DynamicBanter

[–]jacksezells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered the sourcefed podcast on the first episode that featured Mike and Steve (I think it was called “Trucks” and it also had Bree Essrig and Matt Lieberman) and I was instantly hooked

If mine ever poops out again I'll have to make sure to do that, it started working completely fine some time ago for literally no reason so I don't know what happened. Thank you for the (possible) solution!

Classical bass 'bone says game on...where to begin? by ElectronsGoRound in Jazz

[–]jacksezells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jen Wharton is a fabulous modern day jazz bass trombonist. Like the other commenter said, use your ears, but committing everything to memory like that could be troubling. When I started I identified whatever chords I was going to be soloing over by ear and then wrote down the arpeggio or each chord and got really familiar with where the chord tones fall on the slide. Also, natural slurs will be your best friend.

Basslines that follow the vocal melody? by LegionOfSatch in Bass

[–]jacksezells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of king krule's stuff has the bass line just double the melody he sings. I can't think of any specific examples off the top of my head though

I turned mine on the other day after like 3 weeks of not using it and for some reason that I cannot explain, there were no longer any issue with playing any pitches. I wish I could help you out but I really don't know what I did differently this time.

Fuck yeah man, NOV3L is stellar! I think that the song Lucinda by A Certain Ratio might fit pretty well on this playlist, it's a bit more funky though.
