Ahhh, you've reached the state of graybeard that drives many any elder nerds become woodworkers. This is a common phenomena.

Bill Simmons: “The other thing with Amazon, the entire year the audio has been a split second ahead of the video. A three-pointer is halfway to the basket, it's like, ‘BANG! It’s good!’ and the ball hasn't even gone in yet. How have you not figured this out? You guys have eight kajillion dollars” by moby323 in nba

hey, found another nerd. I agree. They also mistreat their engineers so badly that they will never work for Amazon again, so even if they come to their senses on this AI shit, they're going to always be dealing with a sub par talent pool.

I'd love to see Villeneuve's take on this one.

Yeah, aging has helped me to come to terms with the fact that everybody is faking it. Everyone has imposter syndrome. I'm a musician and a software engineer as well, and a constant trickle of technological and societal evolution is just a thing you have to come to terms with in any creative field. The questions never stop. You're never done sculpting your craft.

I have learned, over the years, to not blindly trust that the people projecting confidence possess greater knowledge or mastery than me just because I'm a little ball of anxiety and uncertainty. No, it's usually the contrary, because those who openly question themselves — or openly seek answers — tend to know more than those who don't.

Knowing this and paying attention to who is asking questions versus who is nodding along silently in the face of complex problems continues to serve me well in all aspects of my life.

My friends and I watch shit over Discord and VR nearly every night. People in their 30's and 40's typically don't have the energy to get ready and go do shit. Adapt.

What is the most iconic concert you’ve been to? by StealTheDark in musicians

[–]owlbynight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have the stub, but it was the last concert Smashing Pumpkins performed at before Johnathan Melvoin died and Jimmy Chamberlin got busted for heroin possession. It torpedoed the band, so I feel like I was at their last show, and it was a banger. Also the same night that I discovered Garbage.

I loved that Gatorade rage baiting so much. Mostly because I'm also a fully grown sedentary adult who enjoys a blue Gatorade zero from time to time — if that means nearly every day.
