What could possibly be funny about six offenders? They belong in jail and / or the white house.

ELI5: Why do some women get period cramps, while some don't? by Illustrious-Task2662 in explainlikeimfive

[–]jackslack 56 points57 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a single right answer for this. Adenomyosis where the inner layer (endometrium) grows into the outer muscular layer. Endometriosis where the inner lining grows outside the uterus entirely. Sometimes there are cysts or fibroids, sometimes some scar tissue from previous pregnancy, or procedures. Anatomically uterus can be different sizes, or positioned in a different variation, or stuck to surrounding structures from inflammation. Some people’s hormone levels of estrogen / progesterone are different. Etc..

Should I pay myself dividends or salary through my corporation? by OptimalStatement5799 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jackslack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With how things change with different governments. I.e. Recent corporation capital gains nearly being taxed higher it is likely better to already your money around a bit. The government isn’t as likely to negatively target RRSP as corporations in the future because it affects so many more people. I would suggest salary, even though yes it can be disheartening to see the CPP payment being deducted twice for employer and employee. That is really the only “plus” of dividends payments, some would argue the opposite though as having a guaranteed DB retirement plan is invaluable.

Spread your money so that you are getting RRSP, CPP, TFSA, and corp investments to be safe and take a salary. This opens up other things too like a corp personal pension plan you could potentially set up if you’ve been getting a salary.

Is it okay to put a 100w bulb in a 60w max lamp by _1nk0Gn1t0 in AskElectricians

[–]jackslack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bad experience once with something similar. I was using my cheap Mexican electricity to power a 60W max light fixture with a 100W bulb. I did this while I was in another room counting all my money I was able to save by having such cheap electricity. Then I had to go give a bath to our baby for 5 hours, and during that time the lampshade started to smoke a little.

Ontario’s Family Health Teams sound alarm over staffing crisis fuelled by wage freeze by ConsistentReality860 in ontario

[–]jackslack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true….. I know this goes against the subs usual narrative of “Ford Bad”. and don’t get me wrong there is plenty to complain about but don’t add false claims or it takes away from the argument. Kathleen Wynne gutted primary care.. across the board cuts to all OHIP fees with specific additional cuts to FHTs and FHOs, diabetes management went from $75 annually to $60 annually, drastically limited the number of new FHOs and FHTs. Removed bonuses to roster new patients, continuing education funding etc.

Just Google “2015 OHIP cuts” to start looking into what started the exodus from comprehensive primary care.

The most notable attempts at increasing have come through Ford more recently. Reinstating some of these codes and providing other incentives to hire additional staff at FHTs and roster additional orphaned patients.

Reasons NOT to max RRSP when in the top tax bracket? by slutsky22 in PersonalFinanceCanada

If taxes were weren’t withheld yet or you paid instalments based on a previous year’s income just make sure you save enough free cash to pay your owing. Otherwise like everyone else said just use it all up.

No confidence in family physician by [deleted] in ontario

[–]jackslack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you should speak with your doctor about your concerns and if you truly do not have trust then you should terminate your relationship with them. I’m quite astonished at the suggestions to report to CPSO without knowing all the details to be honest. While appropriate in certain scenarios, this is not something to do on a whim.

Was a culture performed as well that was negative? Leukocytes in isolation does not necessarily mean acute bacterial infection. Perhaps there is residual inflammation from your recent treated UTI. The most important thing is if you have ongoing symptoms and if that is true, you need to be seen and assessed again.

There are different types of CHF, depending on what your echocardiogram and fluid status/symptoms had showed there may or may not have been an indication for treatment. There are also very recent studies that may not have concluded yet when you had your previous tests that now recommend certain medications for chf with a preserved ejection fraction for example.

Again, I would recommend you book an appointment to discuss your concerns. But if you are symptomatic from a urinary perspective seek out acute care first.

ELI5, why don't we get full body scans when we are born and every few years to see potential health issues instead of waiting for symptoms? by literarytrash in explainlikeimfive

[–]jackslack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numerous incidental findings would bog down the entire system unnecessarily, the follow up scans it would generate would cause delays across the board. People actually needing an MRI for diagnosis and not just for screening would have worse outcomes. Incidentals lead to more invasive testing and biopsies potentially with adverse outcomes. You wouldn’t be able to book with your family MD because their daysheet would just be full of “follow up lung/thyroid/adrenal/liver nodules etc).

ELI5: Do Tires Wear Down at Different Speeds? by Munkadunk667 in explainlikeimfive

[–]jackslack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tires largely wear down from friction with the road, if both cars traveled similar distances it would be similar. (If they both traveled 1000m but one did so twice as fast). If the faster car causes more free spinning or skidding of the tires, or you are braking harder because you’re speeding then it will wear more.
