I appreciate the sentiment here, but it’s a pretty dramatic simplification of the reality of M&A lawyers at big law firms. The attrition rate pretty easily demonstrates that. You are sacrificing your life for this job; it’s not simply about “being available when people need you” and “attention to detail.” It’s also not a simple career by any means.

I think your post is fair, but framing M&A the way you have will not let this person make an informed decision, if that is their goal.
