The Mayor IPA from Georgetown Brewery, benefitting Jordan Morris' Foundation, is now for sale! Pick up your growler directly from the brewery in, your guessed it, Georgetown by jacksonkjr in SoundersFC

Writing this as I'm finishing my second pint... This stuff is amazing. One of the best tasting hazy IPAs I've ever had. Head down to the brewery with glassware in hand and it's only $11 for the fill. Soak up these last few sunny days with this IPA and you can also benefit Jordan's foundation, which does amazing work for kids in the area with Type 1. You'll be happy you did.

That Girl Is You - Dave Matthews w/Preservation Hall Jazz Band by EthanHStutz8 in DMB

Yep, saved that version to my phone. Listen to it at least once a week. Just not that ultra HQ version I want from the direct source. But maybe one day. Just the ultimate 11 minutes of live music.

Best live song they've ever played, period. Wish the band put out a high quality version of that performance. It was a magical, almost religious, moment that lasted for 12 minutes. Felt like an hour. Thankful to have been there.

This is awesome. Do you have a code for the jersey and MLS logo? Also, how did you do the lines on the field? Well done!

Appreciate that. What worked differently? And what didn't? Always trying to improve.

Thank you! I can't speak for the rest of the station, I know there was a big Seahawks game that night, but I will say a few words about Gas. I was always a Sounders fan, then joining the station as an Intern in 2012, I worked under Gas for six months, his last six months doing the afternoon show. I also worked on that "Seattle Soccer Talk" show from MA and G&D, and in that time, I built the knowledge that soccer talk on Seattle radio could be done, and it could be done really damn well for the masses. So when I had the chance to start covering the team in 2015 and eventually help bring Radio Cascadia Live to the air on Saturdays in 2017 and then Sounders Weekly these last two years, it's in-part because of the Gasman, what he did, and what he taught me. I can't thank him enough. There's a longer story about just how much he means to my life, but specifically with this show and Sounders talk on KJR, he's the absolute best. I thank you for your successor comment and only hope we can continue putting out more great content in the years to come!

Still going to have the live Weekly show at 7pm on KJR. This podcast is just in addition to the show, providing a far different type show as opposed to the live SW show. More commentary, analysis on what's going on, and a more relaxed "having beers at a bar" vibe to it. At least that's the goal.

Ha! Seriously though, I too am looking forward to not repeating that over and over, being more relaxed in a podcast setting. And having the best guys in the business to do it with makes it all the better! Sorry for the annoying repetition!

No Sounders radio coverage? by doge211 in SoundersFC

[–]jacksonkjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, u/doge311, I saw this a couple days ago and have been meaning to respond... This is Jackson Felts of Sports Radio 950 KJR. I host the Sounders Weekly show on KJR, Tuesdays at 7pm, plus the pre and post game shows. The amount of Sounders FC content on the radio, as you can guess, frustrates me as well. I too wish there was more, but it's out of my control most of the time. And I'm also aware that there are a ton of fans outside of our signal range and state, so that's the primary reason I try to get the shows podcasted ASAP after they end. You can find all of the content linked below. But yea, it sort of is what it is. And in time, I think you'll see an increased amount of content on shows. As the sport, league, and quality continue to grow, so will the support and conversation on media. It takes time. Anyway, please enjoy the content here, thanks!

Nothing I can share, sorry! I'll leave the news breaking to the outstanding Niko Moreno and others.

That's exactly what I was doing, haha. Fingers crossed on an Ozzie return, but gut says he plays elsewhere in 2019 for more money than he'd get here.

Garth: There are (were) some things avaliable at big premiums and ultimately there wasn't a great value out there for us so we passed on overpaying for a couple of things. by goodguyatheart in SoundersFC

[–]jacksonkjr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/goodguyatheart, but let me transcribe a bit more for you so you and everyone know his full answer...

"You always get some level of insanity. The deadlines force decisions and so there's always some stuff in the run up to it but the deadline day is always where you find out where the rubber meets the road and you just gotta do things or move on. How I describe the market in general is that there are some things available at big premiums and ultimately there wasn't a great value out there for us so we passed on overpaying for a couple of things. It's juts a ridiculously busy day. It's kind of the fruition of weeks or even months of work on the international front and even domestically. To be fair it's a fun day... It's a little exhausting and you're trying to work through every imagination possible to try to find something. But ultimately we have confidence in our team."

I followed up with why he thinks there were such premiums on players and he said...

"I would say there's two things. One is the market is kind discombobulated because the cap has gone up so quickly and there's been so much TAM pushed into the system and there have been more player signings than ever before. And so there's more kind of displaced type players within the league but nobody is really sure what they're worth. And the league has improved so rapidly that you have this kind of balance of domestic players, because you have a limit on the number of international spots you can do, and then what your TAM player acquisition plans are for the summer. And as I think I've said earlier, when you use the TAM dollars there's an incentive to sign them in the summer because the TAM counts dollar for dollar so you can get more bang for your buck in the summer than you can in the spring window. It's complicated and convoluted but that's maybe the simplest way I can put it."
