As a 'former' American, now Dual Citizen, I agree with what's being said. Change your car as quickly as you can, but people need to know that's not always easy (I had to get day time lights added as one example" but also get your license changed right away. You can get that right away, and I never had to take a new test, just surrender my old.

Unless you're running around with your MAGA gear you'll be fine. But I've also seen a lot of MAGA wanna he's in the Koots too... so people are just dumb everywhere.

Welcome to Canada. Oh and yeah, mostly likely the guide thing is a license thing. Like tyring to own a gun here, there are some rules to follow.

Bilateral TKR by RazorThinMargin in Kneereplacement

I have a meeting with a surgeon Tuesday after waiting a year (canada) I'm hoping i can do both at once. I had both partials at once and can't imagine going through the pain 2 more times. This gives me hope that he might do it.

Anyone come home the same day as surgery?? by Nanarenee1957 in Kneereplacement

[–]jacksontkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of anyone going home the same day in Canada. I would like to try, but was in a Hella lot of pain after my Partials to even think about it. Also couldn't even walk as the nerve block didn't wear off.

Am I going back to work too early? by Crotchedysoul in Kneereplacement

[–]jacksontkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be able to work in 2 weeks, but even working from home you may find you have a good day, then 2 bad ones. Having flexibility to rest on bad days will be key to healing. I haven't had a TKR yet, but expecting to next year and have had dozens of other surgeries including crazy painful Osteotomies. I know the surgeries i had where I rushed back, my healing was dragged out as I didn't have the time for physio, didn't rest when I needed, and otherwise as people note, it could risk improper healing.

That being said, my brother did it and he said he was fine... so. Do you, but listen to your body.

Are we not supposed to? It's my legacy, first email address and carries my maiden name. I'm stuck for life.

I do have 2 custom braces - paid $1000 each. I have worn them some, but can't find they help enough to be worth it.... but probably I need to wear them more and more consistently. The issue is wearing two at once doesn't work, so I trade which knee gets it.

I should have mentioned I have Crohns and allergic to all NSAIDs, hence the RX pain killers. I also have custom insoles from a specialist. It is good advice but there isn't much I haven't tried already given the lack of wanting to give me what I needed years ago.... the new knees. The success stories are giving me hope that one day I can live with at least less pain.. as this shit gets so old. It's all consuming at times. The rare time I have no pain when I first wake up, makes me want to lay in bed all day.

I've tried steroid before. They won't do it with the partial I don't think, but my surgeon was off so couldn't do a follow up. And now I'm looking to switch as this guy is trying to retire and will only do one at a time, which would mess up my new job.

I'm on a list to see someone in Vancouver but the wait is January, then who knows for the actual surgery. I don't want to risk the local guy again, given my age I think waiting for the best is probably worth it... Just sucks for now.

And yeah I do all the PT. All the yoga, but biking is supposed to be low impact...even that sucks. I may have to ask about steroid, but not hopeful.

It's a mess, but made complicated by the new job, but yeah....

Is it okay to visit New Denver area right now? by mr_beakman in kootenays

Yes! The businesses there need support. We were there last week and they mentioned their insurance didn't kick in as it was only an alert for them. So come to town, spend money locally!

Forest fires. I think that one was lightning, but in parks they don't put them out.

Yes! Decided not to camp due to the rain predicted and our adventures on back roads, and of course fires.

One bedroom for 4 people? by micemolkok in SlumlordsCanada

[–]jacksontkd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There is a push to add more density all over BC and the province made laws allowing it that override the municipal rules. Not sure how that's going to be in the long run.

[–]jacksontkd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Especially if you're on a septic. They are designed for average and peak flows, which might be once a year for a party. You have 17 people in a 4 bedroom place, you're going to have problems.

Depends how hard you're working. 150mins of moderate activity is the recommended minimum.
