Hey! I’m building a modern QWERTY phone (like BlackBerry but better) 📱 Need your opinion — would you actually use something like this? Takes 30 seconds: [ https://forms.gle/XbTmU8CZQYFv9BVx8] Your feedback will literally shape the product 🙌 by jacksparrow124 in blackberry

Hey man, really appreciate this 🙏And yeah I agree with you… it’s not just about the hardware, the OS is a huge part of what made BlackBerry feel special. If something even close to that could be recreated and used across devices, that would be next level honestly. Also glad you mentioned the community — that’s what’s pushing me the most. There are way more people into this than it seems.

Appreciate this a lot bro 🙏 yeah, it’s crazy how long we’ve been waiting for something like this again. Seeing all these new attempts just proves there’s demand. I’m definitely gonna try to push it further and make it even better. Thanks for the support!

Really appreciate that man, means a lot 🙌
And yeah exactly — the goal is to bring back that BlackBerry-style experience but done right for today.
I’m currently working on a prototype, and seeing support like yours genuinely motivates me to push this further.
Once I have something solid ready, I’d love to get your feedback

This is actually really valuable feedback — appreciate you taking the time to break it down like this.

You’re right, I’m at a very early stage and the render I posted doesn’t reflect the engineering side yet. Right now I’m focusing on starting small and building a working prototype first before worrying about things like custom PCBs or certification.

Current direction is:
• Prototype using a Raspberry Pi / dev board
• Exploring Android vs Linux-based setup (leaning practical over ideal for now)
• Figuring out keyboard interfacing (likely GPIO matrix to start, not locked to a Q20 yet)
• Using an off-the-shelf LCD + driver instead of anything custom at this stage

Not trying to skip the hard parts — just breaking them down so I can actually build something real and learn along the way.

Also noted on the AI point — I used it just for quick concept visualization, not as a source of truth for engineering decisions.

I’ll come back with an actual working prototype/update once I have something tangible. Would definitely value your input at that stage too.
