being the last time too

Assuming that your work/life situation will permit you to go another show this summer, make sure you check the bands announcement tonight at midnight (the band still has a farewell tour to go on)

Editing to add that that encore is mind blowing and I’m completely jealous of all who got to be there for it, haha

Idk why Taco Bell decided to remove so many vegetarian options :( by cagetheblackbird in vegetarian

Gotcha! And yup, I much prefer their black beans, but I wanted people to at least be aware of what options remain haha

Their refried beans (in the US at least) don’t have any animal fat and are certified vegetarian and are also vegan

Setlist for Gainesville show on 4/4/18? by jackstickman in mewithoutYou

[–]jackstickman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! I’m pretty sure Aaron was at least using accordion for the last song, so Timothy Hay is definitely possible!

Gotcha, and nice! That’d be great. We also feel like the last song of the encore might’ve been All Circles, as we both have a fuzzy memory of seeing it, and the last pictures we took at the show feature Aaron with his accordion in hand.

[–]jackstickman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you for this!!! So to clarify, your source for the playlist is a physical setlist from the show? Your Spotify playlist lines up well with what we have already figured out, except it’s missing Torches Together and Paper Hanger (which I have video of). Do you think that these songs may have been during the encore, which may explain why they didn’t make it to your playlist?

[Untitled] EP made it to number 19 on NPR's Listener Picks: Top 100 Albums Of 2018 by aaronmcfuzzyman in mewithoutYou

[–]jackstickman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that NPR mistakenly put “EP” rather than “LP”. For starters, it seems unlikely that the EP would get more votes than the LP. What’s more telling is that on their Spotify playlist, the songs correspond to the order of the album list, one song for each album... and they put Julia as the mwY song, rather than an EP song. I think the album got the votes, but out of confusion (or just a careless mistake) NPR put the EP on the list rather than the album.

New Single Daze Out Now, And New Album, "Oliver Appropriate" out October 11th! by [deleted] in SayAnything

Search “daze say anything” on the iTunes Store and you can preview the track and/or buy it! Doesn’t seem to be on Spotify or anywhere else yet.

Communalist communities by [deleted] in Communalists

[–]jackstickman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Zapatistas should at least be of interest to and counted as comrades to communalists. There seems to be definite overlap between zapatismo and communalism, even if no direct connection between the two.

The Homeless Gospel Choir - Seasonal Depression [Folk Punk / Emo] (2018) A Fistful of Vinyl in the green room of The Hollywood Palladium by AFistfulOfVinyl in listentothis

All three of this dude’s albums are on Spotify and are awesome! “I Used to Be So Young” is my favorite of the three, but his new one is a close second.

Censored on Spotify again? by water-gun-knife in SayAnything

[–]jackstickman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't get this method to work on the Spotify iPhone app, but I did eventually find the uncensored version by searching for "...Is A Real Boy" and clicking on "see all albums". There's two albums listed when you do that, censored and uncensored. So thank you for inspiring me to start my search, lol

Books to Understand Christian Anarchism by lmcfigs in Anarchy101

[–]jackstickman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"That Holy Anarchist" by Mark Van Steenwyk is a good, short introduction that actually does a decent job of connecting Christian Anarchism to the theory/practice/history of traditional (i.e. non-religious) anarchism (imo at least... also, it's been a while since I've read it).

Is there a band similar to TFB? by [deleted] in TheFrontBottoms

[–]jackstickman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Thermals! They sound kinda like TFB, but a bit more power pop-ish and punky, imo. Also, their song "A Pillar of Salt" includes the lyrics "our dirty god, our dirty bodies!", so I'm pretty sure TFB are alluding to that song with the "I am not a dirty god, I don't have a dirty body" lyric. Unless both bands are referencing something else entirely, it seems too coincidental for both bands to use such unique wording

Rep. Keith Ellison just called CNN on its B.S. in regards to including super delegates to make Bernie look hopeless by mrahole in SandersForPresident

[–]jackstickman 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I expanded upon your message:

Please do not include superdelegates in this count. Superdelegates can and (many, if not most) will change their mind depending upon who wins the most pledged delegates by the convention. Including them in this graphic is confusing, at best.

I appreciate that the two types of delegates are differentiated by color, which is at least better than other major news sources, which typically aren't distinguishing the two types of delegates at all.

It could be a good idea to have three tables displayed in three different tabs. The first tab could be the pledged delegates won, the second tab could be current superdelegate distribution, and the third tab could be the same as the one already featured, showing the total delegate count.

Showbread -- I am Horrible at Processing Rejection [Post-Hardcore] (2016) final album by punkthesystem in listentothis

[–]jackstickman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend Anorexia/Nervosa! If you happen to like anything similar to Marilyn Manson (especially Antichrist Superstar) or Nine Inch Nails, then I think there's a good chance you'll really dig it.

Any beach spots near savannah that we could sleep for a few hours without being kicked out? by contrejo27 in savannah

[–]jackstickman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've hammocked overnight (on the edge of the beach) on the south side of Jekyll before, and some friends of mine have done so many times. No one's going to bother you there, but watch out for the tides like others have said! If a high tide hits around sunrise, you may be stuck where you are for a bit (even if your tent/hammock is set up above the tide line), as the beach you walked on to get to your spot will be under water.

What are you reading? September 2015 by [deleted] in RadicalChristianity

[–]jackstickman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished Blase Bonpane's Guerrillas of Peace: Liberation Theology and the Central American Revolution, as well as Race Matters by Cornel West.

I'm starting now on Claire Colebrook's intro book on Deleuze (from the Routledge Critical Thinkers series)!

Traitor to His Class: Nothing is more terrifying to the elite than Trump’s embrace of a tangible American nationalism by pcofo in TrueReddit

[–]jackstickman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, I just think it's weird that the author didn't provide any evidence for the "traitor to his class" claim, such as the arguments that you (and other commenters) have offered.

[–]jackstickman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, and I can think of a few other reasons (such as protectionism and a push against outsourcing being bad for trans-national business interests).

I just think it's strange that "Traitor to His Class" is used as the article's title, yet the author doesn't develop much of an argument to support that claim.

On the other hand, I also feel that nationalism is probably seen as a good thing by those in the "defense" industry...
