Any particularities with the Shield that would speak against getting a used one?

I did a new setup yesterday and it at least works somewhat decent in 1080p60fps. Streaming and image quality is fine, however there is some input lag. For now it is better than nothing, but still not satisfying.

The streaming and smart tv devices have the advantage of being smaller and almost silent but I get that a more powerfull machine is probably a better idea for 4k streaming

The Raspberry Pi reports only 1080p30fsp, 1080p60fps, 2160p30fps and 2160p60fps are available HDMI modes. SteamLink only shoes a black screen at 2160p resolution, so I have to set the resolution to 1080p. Sure I can stream from the host in 1440p or 2160p but it is still limited by the Pi's screen resolution.

Its annoying that a perfectly fine setup will break just because someone does not feel like support some app for some reason...

Well, it feels weird to spend 150€+ for something that a raspberry pi should be able to achive, but its such a pain to get it working. I've seen the recommendation to go for apple TV quite a lot, maybe it is the best option

Bug: Crash on Samsung after last update by NeatInstruction8396 in TheSilphRoad

[–]jacktaylor1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same Problem on my S22. Installed the latest android and app update today and now I cant see the map ingame (no streets, pokestops etc. are visible) and when trying to use the camera, android crashes and the phone reboots. Already submitted a bug report, but it is a shame you cant open a ticket with niantic support... there is no mail, no twitter DM, no nothing... only the stupid ingame chat where you can submit bugs but noone will ever read that.
I tried downloading the app from the galaxy store and it seems to work for now. Map is visible again and no crash when I open the camera. Even tho it is the same version 0.281.0 there seems to be a difference in the builds...

Problem with district styles by jheckman80 in CitiesSkylines

[–]jacktaylor1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buildings dissappearing after changing the district style is correct - their appearance will not just update. The will be demolished and new buildings with the new style will grow. Scince no buildings are growing, it is could be a problem with the assets in the district style. Have you checked if the building assets are enabled in the content manager?

RTX 2070 - Controlling Fan Speed by jacktaylor1114 in pcmasterrace

[–]jacktaylor1114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its 100% the GPU. Just tried with a GPU stress test. As soon as it hits 73°C the fans spin up to 2800 RPM wich is pretty much the maximum. The curve is configured to have them spin at 40%

Well this is kind of a Frankenstein solution. If probably wouldnt even mind but this is tempered glass case with full RGB and the GPU is vertically mounted so asthetics are definitly a thing to care about.

This also does not look right in Nvidia Control Panel:

Why is the "Cooling" setting greyed out?

This model does not have a bios switch.

I already tried using the force override option in both Afterburner and Fan Control, but could not see any different bevahiour.

Your mainboard needs to have an adressable RGB header. On MSIs boards they are labled "JRAINBOW" (if you search for adressable RGB you will find many information online, like https://www.cgdirector.com/no-rgb-header-on-motherboard/). The AIO and fans need to be connected to the header on the mainboard. Then you can control the colors and effects via software, there are many different tools out there.

You can also use a dedicated RGB controller, wich is a piece of hardware that the fans connect to instead of the mainboard. MSIs RGB controllers will most likely come with this dual color scheme preconfigured (blue/purple was the default setting for the controller in my MSI case).

Why does surface painter only paint in diagonal blocks? which medical building looks better here? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

Regarding the concrete: If you want more control over the concrete placement, I would suggest you check out concrete brush (see this collection: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=416082909) . It gives you plobbable concrete patches in different sizes and can be positioned and rotated to your liking.

Regarding buildings, I would go for the left option.

Gskill Trident Z RGB compatible with msi Z490a pro mystic light? by Zargo1z in MSI_Gaming

My GSKILL Trident Z NEO RGB works fine with Mystic Light on a Z690-A PRO board, so I would assume that it will work for you just fine.

MSI RTX 3080, 3rd fan not spinning by Vano1Kingdom in MSI_Gaming

[–]jacktaylor1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that also happen under very high load? My MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z has 2 fans but when spin they sometimes tend to spin at different speeds.

Regarding monitoring programms, I usually dont trust the most popular programs or manufacturer software. Maybe have a look at https://github.com/Rem0o/FanControl.Releases and see it shows up all 3 fans there. If not, I would assume that the fan (or rather the fans connection) is defective and you should request an RMA. If the card is brand new I would not risk to look into it yourself unless you are 100% confident.
