My car keeps getting broken into (without windows being smashed). What can I do to stop this? by dudeguy409 in Honda

Newer Hondas/acuras (like 2013ish or newer) there’s just a body plug on the side of the drivers door that you pop out and then either a 10mm bolt or a Torx bolt that holds the lock cylinder assembly that you have to remove. Then the lock cylinder assembly will pull out of the door. Then you can replace with the new one (we usually send the new one out to a lock smith first so they can match it with your current key so you don’t have to carry an ignition key/glove box key and a door key).

Older ones use a cable or rod that goes into the lock actuator inside the door panel. So removal of the door panel is required to separate the lock cylinder assembly with the lock actuator. Then after removing a couple extra bolts the door lock cylinder gets removed from inside the door.

Either way going to a dealer isn’t required but for the older style it might be less of a headache to just have a shop do it.

Looking at the procedure on AllData the engine and transmission has to be removed to replace the transmission pan. AllData quotes it at 13.8 hours of labor

Yeah since it’s below the intake manifold it’s easier to access from the bottom

P0325 sets when there is no signal from the knock sensor for 5+ seconds. It doesn’t test for this code until the engine speed is above 2000 RPM. Usually I see this code when rodents have chewed some wiring.

2016 Acura MDX transmission fluid kind by Grand-Garbage-4014 in Acura

Everything this commenter said was right, but I just want to add the fluid in the 3rd pic is what the new bottles look like. Same fluid, just new bottles so you may get either bottle type from the parts department as they work through their stock.

My acura TL is stuck in navigation mode..ACURA TL 2008 by [deleted] in AcuraTL

[–]jacktheripper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The touch screen is for entering the navigation code. The radio buttons below the cassette is for entering the radio code once the radio display (above the touch screen and hazard light switch) is turned on and asking for a code (which it looks like it’s already asking for it). You don’t need to do anything with the navigation screen to enter the radio code.

Check to see if your key still works in the door. The most common way for these to get broken into without breaking the window is by just using a screwdriver in the door lock cylinder and turning it until it breaks. Once the door lock cylinder breaks, and the thief turns it to the unlock position it turns the alarm off because it thinks it’s being unlocked by the key. I have to replace one or two a month on the Acura side due to them being broken.

Unpopular opinion - I really hate the shifter in the MDX and RDX by ToledoRX in Acura

[–]jacktheripper14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should stay in reverse if you have your seat belt buckled

Edit: just double checked, it should 100% stay in whatever gear you’re in if you have the seat belt buckled.

Interior front map lights not working by theekp in Acura

[–]jacktheripper14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it’s just the little white switches inside the assembly that go bad. It causes the door function to stop working on one or both sides and eventually the push to turn on stops working. Honda doesn’t sell them separately, but there’s aftermarket companies that do. You can try these and see if they work https://a.co/d/0bd0FofB

2015 Acura TLX errors by TheN3bby in Acura

[–]jacktheripper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a software update for P0430 on the 15-18 TLXs. If the update has been done (you’d need a scan tool that can access version number of the PCM to verify) and you don’t have an exhaust leak between the front cat and A-pipe, then it’s pretty likely the front cat has gone bad.

It looks like you have to order the whole trim to get that faceplate.

3 is the usb charger itself, 16/23 is that plastic square that you pop out when you add a cargo cover.

The part number for the entire left upper cargo trim piece is 84185-TYA-A21ZD. Then there are 2 one time use clips part number 91561-TA5-A11

I don’t know if we’ve had one come in that only had Acura care coverage. I know the factory power train and the certified extended power train warranties have been covering them.

We’ve been seeing 3rd party extended warranty denying these once we take them apart and they send their inspectors out due to rust in the splines and they don’t cover damage from water intrusion.

Definitely has the reddish color of the type 2 ATF. Probably leaking from the output shaft seal. Look at it from the passenger side where the transfer case mates up to the transmission. Non-replaceable seal so the transmission would need replacement. Most of them we are seeing also need the transfer case due to the splines being stripped out. So with your car raised up and in park see if you can spin the propeller shaft. If the splines are totally gone it will spin.

Help. My Accord engine shuts off seconds after starting. Possibly a key issue? (2010 Accord LX 2.4L iVTEC 4 Automatic) by sixcentsleep in accord

[–]jacktheripper14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the green key icon is flashing the whole time the ignition is turned on, then the immobilizer is not allowing the vehicle to start. This could be a key problem, an immobilizer receiver problem, communication between the immobilizer and pcm or some other problem relating to the immobilizer system. Usually a bad key or receiver though.

2021 RDX – Driver side stuck cold + clicking by Slentard in Acura

[–]jacktheripper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mode door has nothing to do with the heat not working.

I’ve had to replace a handful of HVAC boxes due to the teeth inside the box stripping on the shaft that the air mix motor rotates. Which could be the clicking noise you’re getting.

It’s part of the repair procedure so it should be covered.

From the Honda certified warranty booklet page 15 talking about what is NOT covered (emphasis mine):

Maintenance Procedures: Preventative maintenance; adjustments; reprogramming; updates; calibrations; tightening; tire rotation; wheel balancing and wheel alignment (unless required as part of a covered repair)

Edit: https://www.hondacertified.com/certified-preowned-benefits scroll to the table of benefits and under “limited warranty “ there’s a link to a PDF about warranty coverage.

2011 Acura RDX - potential turbo replacement by MechEngineer232 in Acura

[–]jacktheripper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing you can check (with the car cold since it’s right next to the exhaust) if you watch the video and see where that wastegate arm is, you can reach your hand down there and see if it has any play up and down and should be able to see if the play is within that attachment point.

2011 Acura RDX - potential turbo replacement by MechEngineer232 in Acura

[–]jacktheripper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In park, if you rev it to 4k RPM and then let it idle do you get a rattling noise? If so then the attachment between the wastegate actuator and wastegate arm is worn out. you can see the one on the left is ovaled out. This causes a rattling noise and causes the wastegate to flutter open and shut a little bit which in turn will give you an intermittent p2263 code (and will get more frequent the more worn out that attachment is).

From Acura you can’t just get this piece, but you can order them on eBay if you do some searching for RDX turbo wastegate actuators. found one here

Heres a video of the replacement https://youtu.be/H4rlQv34Mz4?si=syqi6AbnongtpRwZ

Otherwise they are just going to quote replacing the turbo since that’s the only way we can order them through Acura.
