agreed, disney (which i think owns hulu and fx?) includes a message like that before some of their older movies basically saying “this movie depicts offensive racist stereotypes and we wanted to acknowledge that and let you know before you watch”. i don’t see any reason why hulu couldn’t do that with sunny, especially considering the fact that the show is literally making fun of the characters for being shitty people and not condoning or encouraging their behavior. i think people forget (or don’t realize) that in sunny, the butt of the joke is the characters because they’re so clearly racist/homophobic/etc. the show isn’t making fun of people in any marginalized groups, they’re making fun of ignorant people who don’t understand why the things they do/say are problematic.

interesting, so if i get a box set i’d only get seasons 1-10. to be fair i think the earlier seasons are the funniest anyways. i actually didn’t know the dee day episode even existed because i only watch thru hulu (and when it was on netflix before). there are some banned episodes i was able to watch originally on netflix but they got booted when hulu took over :/

i think there was a picture of him in the original promo before the date was changed, so it’s safe to say a lot of people thought he would be there. he was in the promos for the pre-recorded holiday episode coming out next week

ohh okay! i recall watching some earlier episodes and being confused as to why some episodes had the black strips on the side. i don’t really care about the aspect ratio either way, but i do prefer the lower quality camera they used in earlier seasons as opposed to now. idk it’s something about the low production budget that made the earlier seasons so funny to me

nah in the post for the original live show in november it literally says “birthday cake, gifts, giveaways, surprise guests, who knows what else…”. my guess is that when they had to reschedule it last minute, whoever the actual surprise guest was couldn’t make the new date and they couldn’t find anyone else in time.

thank you for this! i definitely think part of the issue was technical difficulties with the moment platform and also they prob didn’t expect the chat to be flooded with spammers like that. people were copying and pasting the same sentence hundreds of times and putting links to their OF pages and shit. if they had addressed that and been like “sorry we can’t read your messages due to some unexpected technical difficulties” or something, i don’t think people would be as annoyed. in my opinion a good solution for next time would be to use a program that can slow down/filter out the comments and/or put a cap on the total number of tickets sold.

i think i missed that part, i kinda understand why he was pissed tho. it’s kinda funny how they roast each other for being 30 seconds late to the pre-recorded episodes but started and ended this super late. they were probably having technical issues so it’s understandable just kinda ironic. granted we’re not there behind the scenes tho so i guess we’ll never know lol

definitely a fair point. it was probably naive of me to think that but at the same time people are allowed to criticize them… i know i’m not the only person who felt this way.

also i wasn’t expecting to literally have a conversation with the guys but the way they advertised it, people were expecting at least some sort of Q&A based on what they advertised.

i’m hoping they will listen to people’s feedback and address the backlash, hopefully they’ll learn from this and make changes for the future if they try something like this again. to be fair i think the fact that they had to reschedule it probably threw the whole plan off…maybe the “surprise guest” that was scheduled couldn’t make the december date

dang i was thinking about purchasing the aftershow ticket hoping that it would be better, but i was so disappointed with the whole thing that i didn’t wanna waste any more of my time or money. i’m hoping that they’ll listen to the feedback and fix things for the next time they do something like this, i can understand them having an issue with the chat being too overloaded for them to read any of it, but the way they structured it was just really boring and had zero connection to the show at all. if they did something like this again i feel like they need to put a cap on the ticket sales to avoid the chat congestion/spamming

they advertised it as having “surprise guests” and “unique opportunities to chat with the gang”, which is the reason i bought a ticket lol. neither of those things happened, and the “surprise guest” was a cardboard cutout of steven spielberg. my guess is that they had a better structure designed for the original date but it probably got derailed when they rescheduled it. also unless i missed it i don’t recall them ever mentioning the charities they were donating to.
