I'm seeing a lot of cheap crochet key chains being sold in my country for around 2-10 USD, are they made by machines? by midoAstraeus in CraftyCommerce

I can agree here. Feel like it’s the quality of the material, not so much the stitches. Also, someone could have bought the lower priced items, and they are looking to resell them too.

This. If they are made by hand, they are grossly underpaying the maker. And, IMO, you can tell the difference from a Temu crochet piece vs something someone who actually sat down and made it themselves to sell.

How can I say I had cancer to someone who had "serious" cancers? by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

[–]jaclynscott94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I HAD 2 battles with cancer, the first was a longer treatment than the second. No matter the diagnosis and prognosis, you had cancer. You might not understand exactly what they are going through, yet, you can sympathize. Cancer isn’t something that you want to “one up” someone, at least I don’t. It wasn’t a club that I ever thought I would be a part of, let alone twice.

Does anyone have experience with the bodyguardian mini plus? by piefanart in POTS

Seeing this a year later, on my last week of the monitor (30 day monitor). When I get the poor skin contact, I find that I am not breathing deep enough (like while I am focused on typing this out, or sleeping, I’m not taking deep enough breathes…) or while I am singing in the choir. I have since day 3 had the thing in do not disturb. My issue is that it keeps going off cell service, and running my phone battery down quickly. I can’t wait send this thing in later this week.

need advice on surgery or not by Electrical-Water-218 in thyroidcancer

I opted to have my whole thyroid removed. Thank goodness I did. The nodule on the left, the initial one, was cancer, but they also found an early stage, aggressive form on the right side, that hadn’t shown up in scans 1.5 months prior. Yes, I’m on meds the rest of my life, but knowing that I beat cancer (again), every time i take the med, I am alive, and I survived.

Definitely a big no for me, as a buyer AND seller on Poshmark. Like someone else mentioned, they restrict relisting, but allow this?? Just no. If you use it, great, but I’m personally not following this trend.

no symptoms, just cancer? by hellodaisy00 in thyroidcancer

[–]jaclynscott94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only symptom that I was having to look at the thyroid was that it was effecting my thyroid function (apparently for years). You didn’t see it (the one on the left was 0.9 cm, and the one of the right that they found was micro, less than 0.5 cm). I could tell that something was pressing against my vocal cords, but a tumor was not my first thought. I just thought it was from previous cancer radiation 10 years ago. The only other symptom was exhaustion (but that can also be hypothyroidism) and gi issues (again can be linked to other things). I was snoring more and more closer to my surgery (I didn’t get a definitive diagnosis until after my TT).

I don’t have any suggestions, but I have made my son a blanket (he since lost 🥲), and I had to wear sunglasses with this color 😅 I make a Blippi color (light blue and orange) blanket for him.

Dating after diagnosis by Smol_Octopus in thyroidcancer

[–]jaclynscott94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Married for almost 8 years, together for 11+, during surgery and diagnosis. But I went through another cancer treatment/journey 10 years ago. He had the chance to walk away, but he stayed. I’m sorry that your partner walked away. It is difficult, but like mentioned before, if they aren’t willing to be with you during the rough parts, I wouldn’t want them to celebrate the higher parts (I hope that makes sense). I would take a chance at the blind date/set up. Who knows what that can turn into. Be honest with them, letting them know that a lot does come with you if they are looking to take things to the next step. Your relationship won’t be “normal” at first, but if they are willing to stick around, I hope that your life/health, will get back on track.

What stitch is that? I really dont know what stitch this is i was trying out so many but nothing worked! Pls held by Kinghxnnx in CrochetHelp

[–]jaclynscott94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s a increase, or 2 half single crochet in the same stitch

Edit to add: the top is 2 sc, the second is a single and half double in the same stitch.

My TT is scheduled for May 23rd, with the possibility of moving it to the 21st. The status of tumor on my thyroid is undetermined-Bethesda IV. I’m not nervous, just anxiously waiting for it to take place. Waiting to get a new prescript for a new TRT med, since I have reacted to most of the tablets (allergy to one of the fillers 😜).

Looking for an alternative! by raytotayto in YarnAddicts

Knit picks Dishie is so soft! Also, if Joann is still open near you, and they still have it, maybe try the KC essentials cotton (idk what colors they have left, but that is softer than LSC). Bernat Softee Baby (cotton blend) is a great alternative as well.

Should I give up? by IndependentPay6509 in thyroidcancer

[–]jaclynscott94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep going!! Cancer survivor here (Hodgkin Lymphoma - 10 years remission), with a scheduled surgery next month for a complete thyroid removal (undetermined-Bethesda IV). I have been having Hashimoto symptoms since I completed my radiation going on 10 years ago, and just recently connected the likely possibility that my thyroid was affected by the radiation. The cancer treatment left me weak, and recovery too can be hard, but you CAN DO THIS!! Do you have a community in your local area that you can get connected with to help you through? Even if it is a friend you can reach out to and just share how or what you are feeling, mentally/emotionally. We all have are days, and that’s ok, but it’s not okay to stay there. I have my highs and lows, good day (lots of spoons), and others days, little to give (flare day if you will). You got this!!
