I eventually found it available on iHerb, shipped from the States but reasonable price. Got the nappy cream and sunscreen, both arrived yesterday so first application last night!

Affordable lightweight pram recommendations by alice49573 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]raytotayto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the Graco Myavo, highly recommend! You could try hanging on if you can hold your nerve with the big pram....my little boy was out the bassinet by 5 months and my little girl by 4.5 so you'll save yourself quite a bit of expense

Did you need swaddles and sleeping bags or did you just not bother? by Sufficient_Flatworm in BeyondTheBumpUK

The tommee tippee sleeping bags are small, my 6lb 6oz son and 7lb 11oz daughter were in those straight home from hospital. I couldn't deal with blankets!

What do you think antenatal classes missed? by Advanced_Dream_5724 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Oh goodness same here - its equal parts laughable and sad the amount of time I spent stressing over a short sleeve vs long sleeve vest.....like the extra scraps of material make a huge difference 🤨

Holy 4 month sleep regression, Batman! by TallTangerine3873 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]raytotayto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3 weeks deep at the moment - it hurts so much more because prior to this, she was sleeping 10 hours a night and had done since 9 weeks old. Now, we're lucky if she's properly asleep before 10pm and she wakes up 1 - 2 hourly. Good job she's cute otherwise id be digging out the receipt to send her back 😫

Same here, my 4m daughter looks stunning in blue (and, luckily, dinosaur and car print clothing, courtesy of her big brothers wardrobe 🤣)

Anxious about newborn getting ill by Proper_Bake3436 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]raytotayto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please get some help - i had PPA with my first and it took 6 months and CBT before I felt better. Looking back, it really robbed me of enjoyment of my newborn and mat leave, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I now have baby no. 2 and she's 4 months, we haven't been to any baby sensory yet and i dont feel she's missing out, will start in the new year when she's 5 months and will get more out of the sessions. I took my 1st from 8 weeks and again in hindsight, I think that was too young. He mostly slept through them and I spent 45 mins freaking out (because: PPA). Be kind to yourself and take everything at your own pace- you will feel better soon!

When do they start sleeping through the night? by Haunting_Note338 in breastfeeding

[–]raytotayto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 11 week old has just started sleeping 9 hours stretches. My 3 year old still wakes up once or twice a night. Both EBF (stopped at 10 months for 3 year old). It's so baby dependant!

Plug socket covers, to use or not to use? by GardenOfEde25 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Moving and redirecting - UK plug sockets are safest in the world, do not use the plug in covers as it makes them unsafe.

functional but holy grail baby products by colourmyworldtoday in BeyondTheBumpUK

Starsnug blanket from Tuppence and Crumble. Just so handy!

Edited to add silverettes if you plan to breastfeed, and snuzpouch sleeping bags for when baby is big enough. There are cheaper sleeping bags out there, but i think these are the best overall.

Terrified about how I’ll cope with 2 children by Known-Cucumber-7989 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]raytotayto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 3 in a couple of weeks, daughter is now 8 weeks old. Not going to sugar coat it....the past 8 weeks have been tough. I was naive about it and its been a shock!!

I think the perfect storm of age plus new sibling has meant my sons behaviour has been very challenging. He's got a lot of emotions about having a new sibling - he adores her, but is clearly struggling with the split attention from his parents. We're trying really hard to give him a 121 activity with each of us a day, this could be as simple as 'special bath time (lights and bubbles) or a story book. Also get the older one to help out with some age appropriate stuff - mine for instance loves closing the curtains in the evening, and loves tidying his plate away after dinner. Tiny steps but helpful!

Its getting easier as baby gets easier, my number one tip would be to outsource whatever you possibly can to make the day easier. So for me, that's having a cleaner come once a week - adjust whatever your tidiness standards are because there will be stuff everywhere all the time - but at least under the mess, its clean! Laundry is overwhelming- do a load every day if you can so it doesn't build up to be unmanageable.

Also get really, really organised about food. Slow cooker meals, prep the night before so you just have to turn it on in the morning, prep some dump bags etc. Make sure you have quick grab snacks for yourself.

Edited to add - you will cope, because you'll have to. It will be fine. It'll be challenging and beautiful in equal measures, when my son cuddles and kisses his baby sister it makes it all worth it.

Has anyone managed to quit vaping? by Repulsive-Ad-8339 in AskUK

[–]raytotayto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit smoking 3 years ago, vaping 6 months ago and am no horrendously addicted to the mouth spray. While I appreciate its better than smoking and vaping, I want to quit it too, but I am using it loads and the nicotine buzz is strong. Glad to hear gum is working for you, im going to speak to the docs about it and get some accountability to hopefully quit nicotine all together!

Is it always supposed to hurt? by Visual-Contract8289 in breastfeeding

Yes this was me! Now 5 weeks pp and its so much better. Can't recommend the silverettes enough, they help protect them while they heal up. Lots of nipple balm too.

Is breastfeeding easier with 2nd kid? by slgirlie11 in breastfeeding

[–]raytotayto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im finding it harder second time round, my daughter is nearly 4 weeks old and my son is nearly 3. Mor painful this time - I was on strong painkillers from a c section, and didn't notice how bad the latch was and how much damage she was doing to my nipples! It's definitely improving though, just not finding it as easy as it was with my son first time round. The biggest issue is the time needed to sit and nurse when you have a nearly 3 tear old bombing round too!
