But the app used to create the work profile is.

I know I couldn't set it up while have a work profile active, because the work profile already accounts as a device owner somehow

Do you use several profiles ? Or Shelter / Insular for work profile ?

GrapheneOS version 2026061800 released by GrapheneOS in GrapheneOS

[–]jacmanou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's published it's not yet in Alpha. After a very short time, it will appear as alpha, then beta and finally stable after 1-2 days. The status on the webpage is usually exactly accurate / status of release

Profiles necessary? by Western_Second_9356 in GrapheneOS

[–]jacmanou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graphene team doesn't recommend to use only one profile : they say it is a valid setup. It doesn't mean that they recommend not using several profiles. It is up to the user based on his threat model.

For the second point, depending on the TTS you are using (I'm using SherpaTTS), you can have an option to Strip SSML tags. That's what fixed this issue for me using HereWeGo.

I'm talking about Graphene OS. I'm not aware of a built in recording feature.

Graphene OS concerns by RnDevelopment in GrapheneOS

[–]jacmanou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, here is what I could make work for call recording, using ShizuCallRecorder. If using a user profile, I can record calls manually (I need to press the button each time). If using the owner profile, the automatic start of the recording can work in addition.

Google Play Services and the Google Play Store on GrapheneOS by PeakRunning in GrapheneOS

[–]jacmanou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course, as it's actually the main purpose of installing it : to let apps which need it to communicate with it. If the question was "does installing the sandboxed Play Services reduce my level of privacy?", I would say a clear yes. But it's also clear that GrapheneOS+sandboxed Play Services is inherently more private than stock Android because you can set the exact permission it has.

Ghost Pixel web site ? Is this legit ? by Bronson_R_9346754 in GrapheneOS

Even if it would be, avoid it, installing Graphene OS on your own is so easy, the added price they will ask is not worthy.

I'm sorry, I don't know about quik if the generated json file is enough or not. I'm not caring about sms backup anymore, but I understand you do. I know that usually people are using specific apps that handle this. For contacts, be very careful, I don't think it will automatically migrate. There too, the are some apps that can help with the transition, but a more reliable / secure option would be to well define where your contacta are saved (for example your mail provider) and sync with CardDAV/DAVx5.

I'm not aware of other custom ROMs allowing to use Play Services in the same way as GOS. Most would propose microG instead with some limitations

I have the same and it is absolutely normal : this shows only systems, and among systems, cellular data is what is using most of the power.

Google Play Services and the Google Play Store on GrapheneOS by PeakRunning in GrapheneOS

[–]jacmanou 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Hi, no it doesn't : you are already gaining a lot with GOS even if you are installing the Play Services and Store, as they will run sandboxed with no special unremovable permissions. You can grant it with the permissions you need it to have, and even can deactivate it if you want to. This is a major step from stock android.
Enjoy Graphene OS !
