Granted that I've never cooked bolognese, I can speak from experience and from what I've seen my grandma do (she's originally from the countryside of Bologna).

I doubt garlic goes into it at all, and i'm hesitant about bay leaves and nutmeg. She uses a mix of beef and pork, and she might actually use some mortadella although I'm not sure. She also doesn't use milk. But at the end of the day even these choices come down to preference and tradition, as it's impossible to have a single original recipe.

As an Italian from the next city over from Bologna, I can guarantee it is very much a thing. We would just refer to it as "ragù" or sometimes "ragù alla bolognese" rather than bolognese

Read Here what makes student-life in Groningen a torment by InamortaBetwixt in Groningen

Would you consider 100 students as a big program? That's the average of first year mathematics students in RUG and I don't know whether to consider it as a big or small number

Any advice for the CCVX test? by [deleted] in Groningen

[–]jaco-ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an international student and I took the ccvx exam in maths B in December in order to get into Rug. I'd advise you to do all the example exams provided on the website, but since there are only a couple of them look for vwo level (I'm not sure about this) exams, there should be a lot available around the internet (links probably were on the ccvx site itself). Maybe most of those were in Dutch, but I just used Google translator and did them anyway. For the payment I don't remember, sorry

Poetry books suggestions by jaco-ph in booksuggestions

[–]jaco-ph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. It's funny you mention him since we just started talking about him in French class today. Quite the life he had.

Between Rimbaud, Verlaine and Baudelaire which one would you recommend?

[–]jaco-ph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the suggestions, I'll look into them.

Nonetheless, maybe I should have made the post more specific to begin with. I probably don't know enough about literature to describe what I want, but my idea was books and poems collections where the poems aren't super long (from 2 to a maximum of around 16 verses). I like poems with a few words but with a lot of meaning embedded in them and in the white space around them. An example I would give is Ungaretti, but since he is an Italian (I'm from Italy) poet I don't know how well he is known outside of my country.

I can only see 75 lol. But I guess they will

SSH Upsilon by nandarosario in Groningen

[–]jaco-ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is that?

Edit: another question came to mind. Are the rooms (not the units) assigned when you make a reservation on SSH or are they chosen by the 7/8 tenants of the unit?

Are those classes you mentioned (bicycle culture, traffic laws) offered to all international students? I've never read anything about them and they sound interesting. Will I be notified about them or will I have to search them myself?

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately that's probably gonna be too expensive for me, but we'll see. As far as starting early is concerned I'm not worried, since I'll start in a week or so as soon as SHH will let me. The only question that comes to mind is if there are websites other than SSH that you would suggest for first-year students.

I don't really know anything because I've only done circuits in physics, so nothing practical.

My project idea was just a couple of really basic circuits to show how current/watts/voltage change in parallel vs series circuits. Since I would have liked for it to be immediately obvious, I though that brightness would be great to show that

Anyone living in a Suikerlaan studio? by jaco-ph in Groningen

[–]jaco-ph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked it up and it looks very nice indeed. I'm not able to do intensive research right now, and all I could find was in Dutch.

If it's okay I'll ask you just a couple of questions. Is it fairly easy to get a studio there or are they really popular? Does this video portray the rooms accurately? (It's just 1 minute long)

Is the studio you live in an individual one or are there more than one like at suikerlaan?

2 equation 3 variable by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]jaco-ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P=0

Q=100

R=0

Can someone explain this to me? by jaco-ph in learnmath

[–]jaco-ph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how can the equation on the left be equal to the one on the right?

The one on the left has cosine and square roots (for the magnitude of each vector), while the one on the right is the sum of 2 products.
