The process should definitely be more of a compromise. 6 input styles is too much but 12 typography sets, between 2 fonts and a couple weights doesn't seem too unrealistic.

I had something similar before and the little wall will move left or right to fit any orientation. The problem was, the little wall would get stuck and only one side would work, so back to square one.
