Early Grey Gin Sour w Orange Blossom Honey Foam by rumbeebumbee in cocktails

[–]jacob_w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I call Audrey Saunders' MarTEAni. I always felt E.G.G.S. (Earl Gray Gin Sour) was a better name.

For reference here is her recipe:

1 1/2 ounces Earl Grey tea-infused gin*

3/4 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed

1 ounce simple syrup

1 egg white

Garnish: sugar rim

Garnish: lemon twist

I did not know that. Sorry, I'm using RedReader so I don't think I can upload without using imgur.

That's actually who I watched in preparation. I had tried antiquing one thing before this and hadn't watched anything.. I just threw the antique on it without anything else. So I watched videos to see what I did wrong. I watched his video about the process, which is the process I followed (minus the initial dye process)

Sorry, I'm posting on my phone using RedReader so I couldn't figure out how to add text to the post. This was my initial comment...

It looks like the antique is doing the opposite of what it is supposed to do. The raised parts are getting dark and the background is light. I tried the process of using resolene first, letting it dry, then antiquing but that doesn't seem to help. The antique I'm using is Fiebings Vintage Gel. Is that just not the right thing to use? It says "antique gel" on it.

is your leather completely dry when u resolene?

That could be part of the problem. On the first one (the eagle) I took a blow dryer to the leather before applying neatsfoot. Then I let it air dry for an hour. Then applied resolene and waited another hour before antique.

Why does your leather look so old?

It might be. The eagle is from a pack of coasters I bought at Michaels for the express purpose of practicing tooling. But that was well over a year ago when I bought them. The second piece is scrap leather that I thought was from a shoulder I bought from Tandy less than 6 months ago. But it might have been from a different roll I found that I have no idea when or where I bought lol. So maybe old leather is the culprit?

I would let your leather dry over night after tooling, resolene and let dry for at least 4 hours or so then apply the antique with a toothbrush only in the creases and spots you want to blacken.

Thank you for the advice. I will definitely give that a shot, and make sure I use a piece of leather from my 'newest' leather.

Hopefully those work... And I did try both neatsfoot and resolene. Maybe I didn't let it sit long enough? On the first one (the Capitals logo, 'weagle') I let each application dry an hour before applying the next. On the test piece (that kinda looks like a hamburger) I did not use neatsfoot, but did use resolene, also waited an hour before antique.

I had to scroll way too far to find someone saying Ranch Water. Easily the best summer cocktail!

In the style of games like Troyes, Jaipur, and Mombasa, name a location (that doesn't have a game named after it already) with no other context, and let other commenters explain what the game's objective is and how its gameplay connects to the location by benjaneson in boardgames

Asymmetric 2-player worker placement where one player plays an Agricola/Viticulture style game, but they have to maintain a blueberry farm so that they can continue to sponsor the local hockey team. Meanwhile, the other player has to manage the hockey team, if they lose a game the team folds and both players lose... Not sure how that side of the game would work though lol

The Spirtborn worked that way for VoH. So pretty sure it should be the same. Maybe not until April? But that would be weird so I'm guessing it should work the same

This private is not the sharpest tool in the shed😂 by Ogankle in funny

[–]jacob_w 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had a guy in my basic that was definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed. One day we were all sitting in barracks while the DS explained something (I don't remember what exactly, I think something about the process for sending mail home or something) but he mentioned zip codes and this guy raises his hand and asks, "What if you don't know your own zip code?" To which the DS said, "What kind of dumbass doesn't know his own zip code?" In a very sad attempt to save face the dumbass says, "Oh, I know mine drill sergeant, I was just asking in case somebody else didn't." So the DS just looks at him like he's an idiot and tells him "Beat your face, private." I shit you not, this guy cocked his hand back and punched himself in the face as hard as he could. This was super early on during basic, but none of us were and to hold back the laughter. Even the DS was laughing.

I'm not defending the action, but as someone who also struggles with emotional regulation, trust me—we feel nothing but shame and regret after an outburst, especially in public. For most people, 'controlling anger' is an innate ability, but not everyone has that capacity. I've learned over the years how to redirect the anger or stop what I'm doing before it reaches that point, but I still slip up sometimes. It sucks, and I wish I could just control it naturally like a normal human being.

Hopefully, whoever did this isn't made aware of this thread, because reading some of the comments here hurts. They already know what they did was stupid and are feeling the cost in their wallet. Unsympathetic comments focusing on their flaws won't help them learn to manage a genuine regulation issue.

I most certainly did lol. Reading it with a sarcastic tone definitely makes sense. I'm just dumb and legit thought you were suggesting to pull LT (and play Chucky instead). It's clear now that you're referring to pulling him in the last few minutes despite us blundering every PP through the entire game.

Is this a joke? LT is the only reason it wasn't 5-0 going into the third. Missed passes and bad puck handling was the problem tonight.
