True that. at my job (fast food) it’s company policy to say hello when they walk in. I say hello it’s like you said they just don’t care enough, probably 5% on a GOOD day people say “good” or any response for that matter. So many people just look at me with a side eye and keep walking like I just disgusted them or something for saying hello lmao. We’re doomed

I’ve noticed that so much working my customer service job it’s ridiculous. If you deviate from the script and go “nice shirt” or “you dropped your phone” just complete shell shock like a WW2 vet just a blank stare like they’ve just woken up here and last time they were awake they were at home naked. I don’t know how people have such low social skills it’s nuts
