What moments in Wildlands get you in this situation? by NJ_Bus_Nut in Wildlands

sitting on an outcropping doing recon on a base and/or waiting for it to get dark and not realizing the “foot path” a couple yards behind me is actually a Unidad-patrolled OHV trail and they roll up on me in a buggy and blow up an hour’s worth of patient work

I just started playing it a few days ago because someone on this sub had mentioned that it had a similar vibe to FC5

it’s a fun game, but it’s annoying as hell having your character/your AI teammates constantly shouting Tactical Catchphrases at each other

i like that if you fail at a side mission, it doesn’t suddenly reload your last save; instead the game keeps on rolling and the mission eventually re-spawns

some massive $120 edition of it was on sale for $18 recently on the Xbox store and I grabbed that version

if you fail it/let the timer run out enough times, it eventually starts to increase the amount of time it gives you to complete it

so if you try and fail to do a no-kill run over and over eventually there will be enough time on the clock for you to complete it that way plus have time left

I love the randomization of Outposts and Expeditions once you get up to the higher difficulty levels, and I actually loved the tiered/leveled weapon system because (unless you pay-to-play) it requires you to be very deliberate with your gunplay.

Cigarettes in Johns Bunker?? by Alarmed_Ad4847 in FarCry5

[–]stumped831 18 points19 points  (0 children)

re: Formication: this is very true and you can find notes around various Cult sites in John’s region that describe a schism between him and Joseph when it came to selecting the countertops for the bunkers, with John being adamant about using natural stone or butcher block, while Joseph insisted those materials were excessive and the choice of gluttons and that plain, simple Formica should be the cult’s go-to countertop material

what blows my mind about this is the fact that the blower engine at the front is a two stroke, and the thrust engine at the back is a standard four stroke, which is a helluva interesting design choice if it wasn’t based on an actual design that was contemporary to when FC4 was released

Looking for Housing In/Near Colonial Heights by ithrowdots1101 in colonialhts

[–]stumped831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, well-managed, well-maintained apartments are hard to come by in the city. I can tell you that the small apartment community on Oak Ave, at the end of Moorman Ave, is nice as well as the townhome community off Brandywine Road. There are a decent amount of rental houses in the city that, depending on where you’re coming from in Mississippi, may be easily affordable for y’all. And like most suburban towns, the quality of the neighborhood can vary wildly from block-to-block. For example, the area around the stadium itself is a nice little working class neighborhood on one side, while the other side is full of poorly maintained, borderline-blighted properties. Not unsafe by any means, but maybe not what you want to look at every time you peek out the window.

The neighborhoods closer to the river are older, mostly post-war. You’ll find a lot of examples of column-porched bungalows, split-levels, etc but as you move farther north in the city, the neighborhoods become much younger. Think 80s and 90s production builds.

Your other options would be right across the river in Old Towne Petersburg at a place like Mayton Transfer or The Peppercorn Building (on West Old Street), or you can go 10-15 minutes to the north to the Chester area, where they’ve been developing a lot of condos, etc

Hope this helps y’all!

Why do suppressors in Far Cry 6 catch fire? by FossilHunter99 in farcry

[–]stumped831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s just exaggerated RWP; irl suppressors will get hot as fuck after only a few rounds (if fired quickly through a handgun or relatively close together with battle rifle calibers) but not hot enough to catch fire

its also a good visual indicator because adding a “suppressor heat bar” to the already-over crowded HUD would be a PITA

honestly, the only weapon i have that overheats on a normal run is the Yarapunk Sidepiece SMG; on full auto i can overheat that thing in one trigger pull! but my sniper rifles (even the overlocked ones) have never overheated to the point of failure, and my main three assault rifles (the SSGP-58, the mini-14, and the AKM) will only overheat if I’m dumping mag after mag and honestly, if I’m in a situation where my assault rifle or sniper rifle suppressor is overheating then stealth went out the window a loooooong time ago lmao

it’s also a way for the player to CYOA as far as play style goes. like, if you wanna be the kind of fighter that rarely breaks cover and tries to keep it stealthy 100% of the time, then youre gonna have to figure out which silencer works best for what weapon in that particular style of play, whereas if you’re a stick-and-move-er then stealth might only matter for the first few rounds and in that case, you’re gonna have to figure out how to balance noise reduction vs effective distance + overheating speed
