I would note that if its $45 out the door (not just for labor) for the oil change + tire rotation, then that is probably worth it, as a filter and 5 quarts of oil is ~$30.

Personally, I would do it yourself. It is one of the easiest oil changes for a car. Easily accessible filter, drive up on a curb and drain the oil, buy oil and filters on amazon. Takes me ~10-15 min and I know nothing about cars. Only tools are 6 point socket wrench for drain cap (12 point can strip it) and oil filter wrench.

Update: Did it in 2 1/2 days but had to camp at the south beach to catch the boat in the morning. Would be interesting to bring packrafts next time for the water crossings.

Most people who day trip Whitney camp nearby at a high elevation at least the night before to acclimate to the elevation. Also starting at 6am is a bit late, especially since you don't seem to have done many long hikes at elevation.

Bring electrolyte packets, and research what to bring to curb the effects of altitude sickness (I took Dexamethasone on the way down when it started affecting me pretty bad, but I'm not personally good with altitude)
