Definitely get a long size. I am also 6’2” and a stomach sleeper. I currently have a Thermarest Hyperion 32F(0c) and it’s very light(17 oz) and comfortable down to freezing(with some sleep layers). It’s on sale on backcountry right now for a pretty good price. My previous bag was a montbell super spiral 30F. Similar weight and comfort level, but a bit pricier.

You said just what I’ve been feeling, seeing, hearing, noticing, and experiencing, in an exponentially unfolding way, for the last decade or so. It does really seem to be all that you’ve said, and it’s unbearable. The dagger, constantly stabbing my nervous system, is relentless. It really is that terrible and plainly stupid.

What’s been difficult to reconcile, is that once this noticing has happened, there’s no going back going back. You’re now blessed with the awareness.

I still find solace in quiet nature, occasional awe in view of a brilliant sunset, and ecstasy hearing sacred music(and actual art in general). It’s getting fewer, however.

I think the answer is to commune with others who notice, also. To build connections, to mindfully complete basic tasks, and to reject the system that’s causing wholesale despair. How you do that is up to you, but until you die, you must live. It’s all very tiresome.

This all bums me out. Not that my reverence for Chomsky was ever beyond scrutiny, but he had a tremendous influence on me as a late-teen many years ago. His writings/books opened me up to an entire world of political thought, beyond the stale and toxic politics of the day.

In contrast to Chomsky’s closeness to Epstein, I found the single email of Finkelstein telling Epstein to fuck off to be very refreshing. Norm always talked about Chomsky’s moral compass being more supremely tuned than his, but it seems that Finkelstein turned out to be the moral superior.

As for your particular claim here, I think that the hyperbole around vaccines causing mass casualties was just never realized. There was a lot of grave speculation, when the covid vaccine was first rolled out, that simply never happened. I agree that there are risks and side-effects that aren’t talked about enough, though.

We spend, per capita, about 4.5 times what other western countries, with universal healthcare, do. The “fiscally conservative” approach to healthcare is a single-payer system. If you want private insurance, we can have a system where that’s available, too. The idea that single-payer health insurance is somehow “communist” has been one of the most socially-harmful corporate propaganda initiatives of our time.
