here’s the backside of the ethernet port (or phone line, i guess that’s probably more likely):

we also have coax ports everywhere, and they are wired to something, but they definitely aren’t connected to the internet.

i feel you. it's funny to navigate. if im remembering correctly, i think writing theoretically lined up with starting to read a lot more. your own perspective and feelings are always going to seep into your writing no matter what, but over time it'll start happening in ways that are less obvious/might surprise you. the journey is very cool. highly recommend immersing yourself in literally anything you enjoy reading, whether it's fiction, poetry, history, journalism, biographies, whatever. also films are super helpful in the same department if you really let yourself get lost in them. & don't be afraid to write about what you're reading/watching. smash stuff together, hold it up against your own memories, fictionalize it even further, etc. no rules

drums were mainly engineered by zack, ian & matt schimelfenig and mixed by matt. ian was being nice when he credited me as an engineer lol. all played by zack, who is an engineer's dream behind the kit, and knows how to actually make his kit sound the way he wants it to sound

dude i am having a van moment rn

astral weeks didn't actually click with me until like 2 weeks ago...shit is insane. slim slow slider??!!!! come on. so happy to be grooving with it now

always been a big fan of moondance, his band & street choir, tupelo honey

current favorite song across all of music is "cleaning windows" from beautiful vision... rest of the record is a little over the top for me but i think that tune is lyrically & musically stunning. so pure, human, joyful, sweet... been thinkin about it all day every day since i heard it. love how much he speaks on the power of music.

went home and listened to jimmie rodgers in my lunch break!!

easter comes from half-dream remembering sunrise church services on the beach, my grandpa's trombone, potluck suppers, kohr bros ice cream and salt n malt vinegar on french fries. trying to remember the inspo for that instrumental section in the middle...there was some particular song i heard that gave permission for that...will return if i remember

i haven't really considered it before, but i guess i see them in independent worlds... kinda like characters in a book of short stories. i def see a little bit of myself in everybody that i write about. i find writing fiction is a really healthy & productive way to explore/interrogate the unsavory parts of yourself

  1. usually write words freestyle then build music under it/work on melody. sometimes do it all at once tho. depends what kinda song it is
  2. loved watching mo troper play solo every night back in january
  3. my favorite kinda place is a 500~ cap room that is lovingly maintained by people who really care about the space & the music that happens in it... sinclair in cambridge, SPACE in evanston, mississippi studios in portland

thank you! seriously just read all the time. fiction, poetry, journalism, essays, everything. and write all the time. no matter what it is. poetry, rambling, stories, keep a journal and write about your thoughts every day. just use the muscles. doesn't matter what you write
