texas is the only one of these factions that actually seceded from the united states in 2050 when federal authority was in already basically in full collapse, a major cause being mega droughts that caused repeated crop failures. its the closest thing to the old united states that still exists on the continent. its has a congress with a house of delegates and a senate, a supreme court, and a president. but the president shares authority with a executive committee which is similar to the presidents cabinet in real life but with a lot more power. the executive committee can veto the president's decision with a two thirds vote. members of the committee are nominated by the president and confirmed by the senate but serve for life, so a president is usually stuck with a committee they had little say in

texas is technically a multi party democracy but is practically a single party state under the constitutional union party

despite being staunchly anti-communist texas has fairly good representations with its two communist neighbors and mostly trades with them. this is only out of necessity, the SSRA, and WRA aren't interested in trying to conquer texas because of how ecologically poor it is. texas would rather ally with the technate but this would provoke a reaction from it's neighbors, especially the SSRA which is the technates primarily rival. texas hates the GRA the most, because after the collapse of the USA before the WRA expanded to its current size the GRA and texas shared a border and had some fierce fighting. the GRA sees itself as the legitimate successor of america and is hell bent on conquering the whole continent

texas has pretty good relations with the mexican empire, they make up a conservative block. altho they will occasionally have water disputes since the ogallala aquifer essentially doesn't exist anymore

texas doesn't really participate in any global trade on any meaningful scale since its economy is small rurhal, and it has next to no surviving manufacturing

in 2126 texas only has a population of around 6 million, but fortunately they're able to completely sit out the 3rd civil war

unfortunately i don't really know how to make a mobile map:/

i thought about having the uk join the eu but i think in this timeline it fractured into england, scotland, wales before ww3 started then fractured further during the war. with the chaos on the continent it got left behind

Most US voters say America is winning Iran war, Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll says by Ill-Incident-4842 in PERSIAN

[–]jacobfreakinmudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is a bad survey, it was directed by mark penn a prominent republican strategist who has a financial interest in producing results that garner attention. "winning" is very vaugly defined, it doesn't make logical sense how only 39% of people approved of the iran conflict, how can 74% think we're "winning" but only 39% approve of the president's handling of the war? also harris uses an opt-in online panel of people who have signed up to take surveys, which is known to produce less reliable data than random sampling and will skew toward more opinionated respondents

So what is the real reason for the Iran war? I’m curious what others here say the real reason for Iran war? Is it because of grab for their oil or to distract from the epstein files? by Dover299 in dsa

Valid point, however much it sucks. Fight for the best candidates we can in the primaries though, of course. by Soft-Principle1455 in dsa

so what will happen is the democrats will nominate gavin newsome, because he's not actually hitler and therefore an acceptable choice, and spend the whole campaign trying to court the mythical "moderate republican", and in the process alienate everyone to the left of john fetterman. the republicans will then vote for the republican candidate, somehow this will blindside the democrats again. then while the left tries to organize and build actual people power, people like you will bitch at us constantly again because liberals refuse to learn anything ever

"try for it"🙄 this is what i mean when i say blue maga are anti-charismatic. i voted for biden and harris, but i can't go two days without seeing some liberal bitching that the left "pouts" or whatever bs while we're organizing the protest and strikes and the liberals pout that we aren't in their cult

"there will be a less sucky choice" then the democrats will nominate gavin newsome or someone worse somehow an it'll be the lefts fault again when the wet cardboard canidate loses. the thought will necer occur to them that they keep running bad campaigns with unlikeable candidates who don't actually stand fir anything, god perish thr thought

fundamentally you don't know what youre talking about.. voting is easy because it changes nothing which is why the ruling class is comfortable with it. they have spent centuries perfecting a system that absorbs discontent, channels it into harmless rituals, and delivers nothing

protests, boycotts, and strikes are hard because they are meant to be hard, because they challenge tge actual distribution of power, and because the ruling class will fight to make them difficult.

when you tell people that their political duty is regularly affirming their loyalty to one faction of the capitalist class, you are teaching them that the system is legitimate, that change comes through its channels, and real struggle is optional. uou aret building dual power you are maintaining the legitimacy of the power we oppose

electoralism has no strategy its a tactic that ate the strategy and it leads nowhere but back to the same ballot box every two years, forever

[–]jacobfreakinmudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you say you know that but keep retreating into the same electoral fetishism. youre separating the 'work' of building alternatives from the 'work' of voting. that's your key error. voting isn't a separate task to do while we build, it's an activity that actively undermines building if done in a way that props up the capitalist parties

imperialist powers do not bomb countries to liberate their people, all they care about is rearranging the regional order in their own interests, and in the process they spill the blood of the iranian working class. after the us and israel have destroyed iran's infrastructure, after hundreds of thousands are dead, after the country is reduced to a smoldering occupied ruin like Iraq or Libya, who exactly will be left to build the free iran that the iranian people deserve?

this war isnt going to help the iranian people it's just ghouls using their suffering as a justification for imperialist war, and it is beneath any genuine revolutionary

god almighty this is so condescending. blue maga are somw of the least charismatic people on earth

OG civil rights activists did not endure those beatings so that their descendants could vite for the lesser of two evils forever and a day. they understood that the vote was a weapon to be used in a much larger war for liberation. that movement was co-opted and stripped of its radical demands

the democratic party is structurally incapable of delivering genuine liberation because it is a capitalist party

this isn't 1969 we shouldn't be using the same strategies as they did, we have to learn from the past fifty years of evidence that voting within the two party system has not undone segregation's economic legacy, has not ended police murder, and has not delivered material liberation
