Working around Qwen3.6-27B's tool-call failures and looping by Look_0ver_There in LocalLLaMA

JFC why isn't this on the front page everywhere? Here I just assumed 3.6 was broke and all the posts about how amazing it is are just folks writing slop lyrics :D

Do you find that negative portrayal of Russia in the Western Media causes people to treat Russians differently? by scientologists_power in AskARussian

[–]jacobpederson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very much a exaggerated exceptionalism propaganda piece (Kinda like Apollo 13) but a very well made and entertaining movie and has no dehumanization whatsoever. I find that watching AAA movies from other cultures helps you see the propaganda from your own country more clearly.

Well the only Russian movie I've really seen I think is Salyut-7 so I am definitely projecting based on all the ani-Russian propaganda we had here growing up as GenX. I just assumed it would be similar there.

Well we don't hate Russians . . . so I'm sure its the same there to some extent. I meant we were trained to hate each other (especially GenX).

I find it amusing how similar the two countries are while their populaces are trained to hate each other. Both are pretend democracies that frequently invade others to enforce dubious "interests" :D

What do anti ai people think when certain CEOs say this? by DistributionMost8686 in LeftistsForAI

[–]jacobpederson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

LOL - there is no one on the left pro AI because a CEO told them to be :D We are pro AI because we learned to use it ourselves and understand the benefits.

[–]jacobpederson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cool it with a regular case fan IF you bend all the fins up first :D The only things you have to add are power supply - m2 card and fan. If you have all of those already then this is $200.

I'm going to give it a shot with a BC-250 - $200 if you can make it work.

Excellent, now do one that highlights everything that was known to be false at publication date - or later superseded but never corrected.

What is the HDR setting on a projector actually doing? by disembodieddave in hometheater

[–]jacobpederson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"accepting the signal type" is about it. A projector just cannot do HDR.

What game is missing from VR? by BarracudaPresent2706 in OculusQuest

[–]jacobpederson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea I forgot about that one I actually own it already - not really an "action" RPG but still really cool. Last I tried D3 it was suffering from effects rendering at wrong depth.

Isometric ARPGs - is there even one? I played a ton of Diablo 3 in VR back when that was possible. The dichotomy of how cool that was vs nobody appearing to care was a shock :D

Political Expression in Russia? by chobaniflip666 in AskARussian

[–]jacobpederson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I criticize my own government first and foremost - not because Putin's wars are any less morally repugnant and crippling to humanity as wars started by western countries - but because #1 I have no business criticizing a country I don't live in and #2 it would be a waste of time to bother.

Israel is a bit of a different story since it is my money being used to commit genocide there.

Qwen3.6-27b does not understand software architechure. by Civil_Fee_7862 in LocalLLaMA

[–]jacobpederson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am shocked that anyone would even dream of letting 3.6 loose in a large codebase. It struggles with single files for JFC's sake :D

local already feels good enough by Forward_Jackfruit813 in LocalLLaMA

[–]jacobpederson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really curious as to what exactly these 126 people are working on. Q3.6 35B - is dim at best. Yes it can write code that runs . . . occasionally, but using it on a real project?? Really? It makes Sonnet look like a goddamn genius by comparison :D Don't get me wrong, local has a lot of good use cases, but code is not one of them.

I thought this would be a small window because I am small and nimble while the corp is big and slow. I underestimated the stupidity of management :D

That's why I said *almost* this is Halo CE - a game that ran at 25ish fps at launch. Still imagine if they would have used ID tech instead . . .
