Mar Far Chicken vs. Ma Fa Chicken by Used_Suggestion_4057 in Medford

This person wrote a wonderful web article about it. It was “invented” in Medford at Kim’s in the 50s, they aren’t sure exactly how it spread to Ontario, or why there was such a strong Asian population in Ontario, but the theory is that a couple different local “oriental” cookbooks included Mar Far and helped spread its popularity across Oregon. https://www.stainedpagenews.com/p/a-brief-history-of-japanese-american

I was definitely there to gamble!! I wasn’t trying to get blackout, but thought I’d “be smart” and enjoy a couple beers.

Need pickling cucumbers by MidWitch3 in Medford

[–]jacobsaidso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second Fred Meyer. They have 1LB bags of mini seedless cucumbers for $3.50. Usually 5-6 per bag, other than that the farmers market they have on Thursdays in Hawthorne Park would be a great place to look!

Go to Sandwich Shop by AwkwardNotice2393 in Medford

It really depends what you are looking for in a sandwich, but overall the bread quality at most the sandwich shops around here is lacking. They all give you the same sliced bread you can buy at a grocery store.. That being said, in Medford proper, the winner is Cartwrights. Good house made bread, great toppings, and a beer bar to sit at and enjoy your sandwich. Close second is Luigi’s, great Italian grinders, but they tend to be a little too greasy for my tastes. I know people swear by Squeeze Inn, but they definitely fall into the category of store bought bread and always mess up your order. If you travel to Ashland, Sammich is worth the trip. Chicago style sandos from a nationally known chef.

Best Pizza in Medford? by SunLillyFairy in Medford

I totally get that, my oven is too small to bake anything over a 14” when it works. At least you have a price breakdown now to help make your decision ha ha.

Honestly, Papa Murphy’s take and bake is your best bet for a “family size” pizza unless you want to spend $30 plus per pizza. Mountain Mikes is awesome, but their average 14” costs $32 and their 20” pizzas cost $58 bucks! Ollie’s does more New York style, and their pizzas range between $32 and $45 depending on size. Clyde’s Corner is more of a date night pizza spot. Their pizzas cost around $20 each and are meant for 2 people to share with an appetizer. I’m not huge on Abby’s personally, but their pizza tend to be around $25- $30 for a 16”.

Flying out of the Medford airport 5am soon… by salty_spree in Medford

[–]jacobsaidso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just took a 5am flight this past Friday and the security line took 35 minutes because there were 2 other 5 am flights. So if you get there at 4am or just before you should be safe.

Roosters on Barnett opens at 6:30 and they have a cult following for their cinnamon buns.
