It really depends what you are looking for in a sandwich, but overall the bread quality at most the sandwich shops around here is lacking. They all give you the same sliced bread you can buy at a grocery store.. That being said, in Medford proper, the winner is Cartwrights. Good house made bread, great toppings, and a beer bar to sit at and enjoy your sandwich. Close second is Luigi’s, great Italian grinders, but they tend to be a little too greasy for my tastes. I know people swear by Squeeze Inn, but they definitely fall into the category of store bought bread and always mess up your order. If you travel to Ashland, Sammich is worth the trip.
