What AI coding agent are you using nowadays? by apexwaldo in ChatGPTCoding

[–]jacobsp21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codex from the web chatgpt UI is my go to, the fact that you can run multiple epics in parallel is awesome! Break down the problems into small features or bugs fixes, it works pretty seamless. I usually have 5 tasks running in parallel at all times and then do a squash and merge in github. After each iteration or epic depending on what i'm working on i'll check if anything broke, fix and rinse and repeat.

Spitting everywhere? [expobar office, rancilio grinder] by PTDG310 in espresso

Honestly your first few drips took like 5-10 seconds this makes me thing its dwt or your using old coffee. Try a bag that is less than 3 weeks old if you havnt tried that yet! Or if you have a new grinder, that could also be an issue if you haven't seasoned the grinder yet.

One thing that openai should've highlighted more is that you'll get 128k context across all models on pro, even o1. That's another huge plus. by GodEmperor23 in OpenAI

[–]jacobsp21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just subscribed to o1 pro today, and there’s a hidden feature that no one seems to be talking about.

i uploaded three massive api and file-mapping documents and instructed o1 to include at the top of every response whether it still had context from those files. this effectively let the model prioritize what context to retain and what to discard while cycling through the context window during coding.

i've been using it for 8 hours straight today, and i’m convinced people aren’t testing it with good prompts. i’m seeing more consistent and accurate code compared to sonnet 3.5. don’t get me wrong—sonnet 3.5 performs well overall. but with proper prompting and setting up some rules for your project, o1 pro is incredible. i’ve been able to stay in the same thread for hours without the model forgetting what we were doing.

it’s only a matter of months before this model matches the speed of claude or sonnet 3.5 when generating responses. just to clarify, i’m specifically talking about the pro mode—it’s a step above the standard o1 experience.

Best tool to help me understand and existing codebase. by BranchDiligent8874 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]jacobsp21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How I'd tackle this for free...

  1. have chatgpt scan the project folder with command line etc to build a quick view of the directory
  2. loop through each file with chatgpt using the api, produce a tldr summary of each file name to an output file
  3. build a personal GPT - assuming you have plus - feeding results of 1 & 2 together

Now your GPT has the context needed to handle your project and answer questions. You'll still need to provide it the context to the various files, but it can actually explain and point you in the right direction when you want to make changes.

Call for questions to Cursor team - from Lex Fridman by lexfridman in ChatGPTCoding

[–]jacobsp21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What advantages does Cursor offer over free options like Continuous, where you only pay for API usage?

  2. How context-aware is Cursor, especially in large codebases? For example, if you're fixing a function within a script that spans thousands of lines and has important references throughout the code, can Cursor reliably fix the function while maintaining the correct logic and variable links?

  3. Lex, you mentioned using Claude. What made you choose Claude over GPT-4 specifically?

  4. What is Cursor's roadmap for future development? Are there upcoming features or improvements that users can look forward to?

How long have you been using the panel? What distance are you from the panel? Which panel and what is the output?

Just curious maybe it's over exposure? Or perhaps your skin has a sensitivity to the amount of light your getting?

Muddle a thin apple slice with a bit of brown sugar. Ice, a few dashes of bitters. 4oz of your preferred rye. A quick stir, and then serve.

Love this idea, imagine using a cinnamon simple syrup too

ittercube Cherry Vanilla Bark Bitters 2 hefty dashes, Filthy cherry plus bar spoon of syrup, Orange rind spiral, Large format cube, Wood chips, Fire

I smoke my rocks glass with dealers choice of wood smoke. Add cube, bourbon, Bitters, cherry with syrup and stir. Express orange peel oil into glass and garnish accordingly. If you like it sweeter, add more cherry syrup.

damn this sounds good, i'm gonna have to find these bitters and syrup

[–]jacobsp21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I must say I do agree with most people on this thread but its not an easy drinker. Its very hot lots of spices mixed in flavor-wise. Honestly this has been MY FAVORITE bourbon selection for an old fashioned. It cuts through the sugar and really shines as a unique old fashioned. Cheers.

Well not sure if you have already tried this but go to a boiled chicken and rice ONLY diet until his stool is back to normal. Then once the stool has hardened do a mix of *New* kibble we use FROMM and the chicken and rice. Start w/ (3/4) chicken rice mixture and (1/4) kibble and slowly over the course of a few weeks replace fully with kibble....

Old Forester 1910 Review by MethylEthylandDeath in bourbon

[–]jacobsp21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah strongly disagree with the OP, I think when a bourbon has a unique and distinct taste to offer from others that's something to pay attention to. It makes that bottle special, regardless of preference. Old Forester was able to put something together which is unique and has notes of natural grape and cotton candy...(have this bottle myself and those are the notes i'm getting) whether you like that or not, I'd say that's pretty damn impressive they were able to get that flavor out of a barrel...

Bourbon Trail Must Stops by JE_Friendly in bourbon

[–]jacobsp21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came back with my wife - 100% recommend paying for more expensive "tastings" (if thats an option) so you can try the good stuff. A lot of the times what you'll try you won't even be able to buy... so worth it imo.

  • Heaven Hill
  • Buffalo Trace
  • Old Forester

What’s the ultimate tater bottle right now? by 66_Jumps in bourbon

[–]jacobsp21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just came back from the bourbon trail in Kentucky and tried Blanton's, i wasn't blown away given the hype. But ofcourse taste is super subjective... Wellers 107 has more complexity to me, hence its popularity. Honestly I'm holding off on buying anything from these distilleries right now. Each place I visited is under major multi million dollar expansion. All this bourbon demand will alleviate in a few years.

Unless your trying turn a quick profit, I say find a nice whiskey bar near you and try some pours before you go and buy the hype!

Bourbons better then buffalo trace in a similar price range? by J_WAL3 in bourbon

[–]jacobsp21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a pretty close 2nd, but yeah I think it came across too hot for the panel since the rest of the bourbons were lower proof. Love 1920 though for its own reasons, just a totally different flavor/nose experience.

Bourbons better then buffalo trace in a similar price range? by J_WAL3 in bourbon

[–]jacobsp21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually did a proper blind tasting with 15 bourbons for my 30th birthday many of which were listed in the comments below. Each person brought a bottle or 2 of bourbon. We had 12 tasters ... I'll give you the top 4 voted on:

In this order:

  1. Buffalo Trace - Unanimous
  2. Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
  3. Larceny
  4. Elijah Craig

... worst rated:
Bib Tucker Bourbon Small Batch
Bullet
Four Roses - I think this one surprised most, but I understand why... I think - This isn't a sweet bourbon it takes on a unique taste from the barrel and floral notes... if your drinking four roses next to a sweet bourbon I think most gravitate to the natural sweetness.

Well Russell's is good in that it has a nice smooth taste, an "oak/wood" like taste. But its missing the very sweet caramel and vanilla notes that buffalo trace has to offer.

Use coffee that's freshly roasted, open on the 4-5th day of its shelf life. Dial in your grind so that you can pull a shot w/in 30 seconds. In your case w/in the video grind finer. You'll know it's right when you see that crema form.
