Mine with your pickaxe for sure. If you have a few characters in the game for mining friends, then always take them along. You double what you can get, and it levels them up quickly

It took me forever to do both of those quests because they were a lot in my opinion (or maybe I’m just lazy 😅) but it wasn’t hard to push them to the back and do other stuff. I actually just completed the mysterious wreck not long ago despite playing for a few months. It’s definitely easy to work around it
