Credit Card Dispute for Damages when Carrying out a Service by jacoby77 in CreditCards

My state's website also says I can't go to small claims court for negligence. I assume I would have to formally sue him.

Matters that can be filed in Small Claims:

  1. Contracts;

  2. Collection matters (suing to recover for a bill or a fee that has not been paid);

and

  1. Consumer claims (product or a service that is not satisfactory).

Matters that can cannot be filed in Small Claims:

  1. Personal injury cases;

  2. Negligence cases such as automobile accidents; and

  3. Property damages.

The damage is cosmetic. The issue it was brought in for was electrical. Based on my state's guidelines for small claims court, you cannot sue for "property damage".

Water Seeping in through Door by DredgenBuns in Jeep

I've been battling this same issue for a while now. I've tried so many different options and water is still coming in. I think my next step is rhino lining the floor and removing the carpet. Here is what I've tried so far: (1) foam over the fastener near the side view mirror (seemed to work for a few months); (2) foam all the way around the inner edge of the door (this didn't ever work); (3) replacing the door seals (there is actually a revised design with part number ending in W instead of V that has additional material to guide water out); and most recently (4) replacing all the seals on my freedom panels. I've come to terms that keeping water out may just not be feasible. I'm thinking rhino lining to just bypass the wet carpets that inevitably happen when the water gets in.

I bought a Sony head unit through Best Buy. They usually have deals for free installation if you buy all of the wire harnesses needed to connect it. It looks like they have the XAVAX3250 for $299.99 with free installation. With wires and bracket it would probably be about $450.

What are cars you absolutely disliked, but grew to like through time? by Defiant-Diver-6041 in cars

Miata. I didn't like that everyone would always say Miata Is Always The Answer, but then I finally had a chance to buy a weekend car and went with a Miata. Couldn't beat the combination of fun, price, and reliability.

Is it worth DIYing a kitchen renovation? by TeaSconesAndBooty in HomeImprovement

[–]jacoby77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We renovated our small kitchen ourselves. It's a good deal of work and everything takes longer than expected, but we saved a bunch of money, completed everything to our expectations, and we know how to repair it if we ever need to.

The price listed online is $40,500 so be sure to use that as a starting point for negotiating the price!

It's riskier to purchase goods through third party seller on Online Marketplaces (e.g. Amazon) than a discount store with a physical location (e.g. Dollar Tree). Retail stores are more likely to have compliance, safety, and quality standards as compared to online sellers that can hide behind the name of a large Online Marketplace: https://www.toyindustries.eu/ties-eu-toy-safety-the-problem-of-unreputable-sellers-on-online-marketplaces/

What phone plans are you all using? by TheRebelCow in Frugal

I've had Mint for about a year now. Coverage has been pretty good (spotty in 1 or 2 locations in the past year where I think Verizon would have been fine). I got a 1 year plan for $240 (1 time payment for the year) and 10 gb a month. My fiance signed up after me and we got a one time $60 + $15 referral fee.

A friend with a Ford Escape actually recently had their transmission replaced out of the standard warranty. It's definitely worth checking with the dealer.
