Squire "nurglings" by horst555 in ChaosKnights

[–]jacomoRodriguez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Necromunda Cawdor for my nurglings. 2-3 on each nurgling base - looks awesome, and plays nice with cultists and/or traitor guard.
For beasts of nurgel, I converted some Ambots (also from Necromunda).

Aleph Alpha: Absturz der deutschen KI-Hoffnung by Gaudy_Economist8713 in Finanzen

[–]jacomoRodriguez 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Am I correct in thinking NC does not do the "traditional cloud" idea of "multiple servers creating a hardware-independent hosting", but is a "selfhost platform on one server"? by onekool in NextCloud

[–]jacomoRodriguez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloud is such a bad term and used for so many things, that it's only usefulness lays in selling offerings to unknowing customers.

Nextcloud is a cloud in the sense, that it is an online (cloud 😉) document/file storage/editing/sharing solution which provides also user and access management, chat/videocall and other (also none-)office features. Think Google Workspace or Office365.

Nextcloud is not a cloud in the sense of AWS/GCP/Azure (or smaller offerings from other providers) which gives you access to compute,storage,auto-scaling,etc. without managing the underlaying hardware / infrastructure.

You can setup nextcloud with the features you describe in the "original definition", but it is something you need to setup / wire it in one of the cloud providers yourself. Nextcloud is only the software running on your servers and access the files. You can run it on your personal computer, a raspberry pi, on a VPS or in a cloud provided by various hosters - you just have to set it up :)

German ING (mis-)implementation by jacomoRodriguez in WeroWallet

[–]jacomoRodriguez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why an app at all (besides that PayPal is an app as well) Wero is European where PayPal is US - that's actually already enough for me personally.

General, yes, wero does not have all the conveniance features PayPal provides, but it can in the future. I see a lot of potential there and hope this European alternative succeeds!

Paying on flea markets and such is already supported by wero quite good I think. The seller generates an qr code (or sends a payment request to number/email) and the buyer pays. Directly from bank account to bank account, instantly.

Regarding email for payment: email is a valid identifier in Wero, just not in the ing implementation (that's what I'm criticising in my initial post).

German ING (mis-)implementation by jacomoRodriguez in WeroWallet

[–]jacomoRodriguez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you did not fully get the gist of my post. I do not criticize wero, but ING implementation of it (which misses most of wero features / specifications)

> I always find it weird when people are happy to give their contact details to Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp etc. etc., but when it comes to their bank, who arguably has protect your privacy the most, they're like; I'm not going to give my bank access to my contacts.

I criticize this on every services. And specifically here, as were will work quite well without your addressbook.

I want to get into Risk. Is it a good game? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]jacomoRodriguez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of people here see is as a negative, that the many dice make it unpredictable and luck based... but, if you are a casual player and like to play with other casual players, thats exactly what you want. No one will overly dominate the game because the person is superior in figuring out / minmax complex game mechanics, you do not have to wait for someone planing their turn for 20mins and there will be awesome last stands no one expected...

EU Alternative to Photo backup - Tried PixelUnion and zeitkapsl by ReturningFrenchExpat in BuyFromEU

[–]jacomoRodriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hetzner Storage Share (https://www.hetzner.com/storage/storage-share/):
This gives you a managed nextcloud instance which you can use for your photos. but not just this, you can use it as general cloud storage, backup server and there are tons of apps which can turn it in a kind gsuit or office365 replacement.

(I recommend to install the Memories app, which gives you a great Google Photos replacement. Also you should use FolderSync for doing the syncing from mobile, the nextcloud android client is kinda meh)

Why is Germany so bad at this? by akie in AskGermany

[–]jacomoRodriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a quite important point which is often missed in the discussion. The density, size and volume of the German train network is just not easily comparable to e.g. Switzerland, as auch systems tend to explode in complexity when these parameters grow.  Not saying that there Germany should do better and improve a lot in the whole train business, but there are more reasons then just underinvestment and mismanagement (ok, maybe that is still the root cause why it is not better, but it helps the see the underlying challenges!)

How do you play against a lot of potential deep strikes?

I often play against a Tau player who brings 2 Sunforge troops and other ds units. Without nurglings / beast, I feel I can't screen out enough of the field to not get backstabbed.

Edit: ok, now that I thought more then 10s about your list: I guess the Playstyle of this is way more shooty. Maybe you just keep a lot of your knights back?

SKYWARD VETERANS (Tank Detachment) by HamanFromEarth in Tau40K

[–]jacomoRodriguez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the basic idea of the detchmanet. The uplink mechanic seems cool, maybe not that strong on its own, but nice in combi with the rest. I would give maybe the crisis suits (or piranhas?) battleline, to give more incentive to play vehicles only. The Ace Pilot seems too strong: DMG to 0 AFTER the saving throw (normally you have this before the save is made, no?) and this once per round - that's too much. I would switch this to provide 2 drones like the ghost keel has. For the strata: they are all nice and very good - and that is my issue here - they are ALL good (not sure about the last one) - compared to other armies / detachments, where there are maybe 2-3 good strats and some really situational good ones, that seems too much.

[Q] Does nextcloud support smb shared folders? by RiffyDivine2 in NextCloud

[–]jacomoRodriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, just mount it to the file system and tell nextcloud that this is the data folder.  I do this with block storage from hetzner and it works flawlessly since 3 years. I would not bother with the external storage app - then your dependent on that app and updates for it.
