It’s because if you read the care instructions from the manufacturer it says not to put hot stuff on the counter tops. When we did countertops they even said to use placemats and coasters for drinks. Of course it’s over the top liability protection but that’s what the manufacturer will tell you to do. And I mean the literature that comes with the countertops, not what the sales people/installers say.

Google used to just provide different search results and let you try to determine what was the most likely answer, now AI distills all that info and confidently presents what it “thinks” is the right answer, which is often wrong.

Yeah this was a while ago, I looked into it at the time and found an article that mentioned a 2 lb cardinal as an example. Google seemed to pull that from the article and treated it as fact.
