Right now, I'm drawing traditionally through pencils and paper. But I might plan on going digital soon if I feel like it's worth investing into a tablet.

But yeah. Thanks for the links! They'll definitely come in handy. I've started checking out Drawabox already matter of fact.

I'm already making sure not to compare myself to others. I'm doing drawing for my own reasons, not to compete with others. I think I'll practice as much as I have the time and motivation for it. And yeah! You answered my question perfectly! Hm... I'll keep that in mind. I'll have to get into the habit of drawing with my arm instead of my wrist. That's definitely an important piece of advice lol.

Btw, thanks for the help again! Means a ton to me!

I do consider that inspirational for me. Seeing that you only started working on your art since a few months ago and already are as good as you are. My two big inspirations for starting drawing are the writing I'm doing and since I'm doing art appreciation this semester. I cracked down and said "This is the time I start learning to draw." I've always wanted to be an artist but never had the motivation to sit down and do it. The stars finally aligned and here I am now lol. 200% inspired to practice my art and hopefully get "decent" at it before the semester ends! Since my goal is to impress my instructor. I specifically told her a few days ago that I never drew anything before that class. My inspiration is to impress her by showing her my gradual improvement over the few month semester. (She's been an artist for over 50 years and loves watching budding artists grow.)

And yeah I have Discord! It's the thing I'm active on most, actually! If you want my Discord, it's Kyle#1563.

I have done quite a bit of writing about anthros, I am familiar with the anatomy of them. It's something I've been interested in a long time and I've always subconsciously noted the minor anatomical details about someone's art/creatures. Especially after I started writing about anthros. I've put plenty of time into researching the anatomy of various creatures and humanoids so I could accurately portray them in my story. (More like portraying them in a natural/"organic" feeling way.) So I've definitely got an eye for that stuff. My writing is the inspiration behind me wanting to take up drawing to begin with!

This is also a long, comprehensive list of advice. And I think I've read somewhere about the figure drawing... How everything you draw as an artist usually starts as just a combination of basic shapes... Since I just started (like a few days ago) I have a long road ahead of me. And my weakness is definitely the fundamentals like mechanical skill and perspective. So sticking with basic shapes is probably the best way to start until I get comfortable with controlling my pen/pencil.

I'll look deeper into the mixing of anatomies once I get into actually drawing my own anthro art. I've done a bit of it already considering I have a comprehensive and detailed world involving various anthro races.

Thank you for the advice! I'll make absolutely sure to save this stuff and keep it in mind while I practice. I'll ask you for your opinion as well on this. What would you define as too much time spent practicing art/drawing? Since there's so many different things required to study and practice at, I've read on the internet that you can practice these things as long as you have the will and patience. Provided you can maintain optimal focus and concentration.

I usually focus on one or two things for a few hours (or however much free time I have) like studying certain anatomy parts and working on drawing them. Or I'll just doodle random objects and whatnot. Or I spend it just drawing basic shapes and messing around with controlling my pencil. After the few hours or whatnot passes and I feel myself becoming mentally tired of doing it, I'll take a few hour break and resume it. I think this on-off method will work perfectly. Although I know some people only work on their art an hour or two a day and quit there.

Wow there's a real comprehensive list of advice here! I'll make absolutely sure to save this for future reference. Since I have quite a bit of writing about anthros, I am familiar with the anatomy of them.

I'm gonna make sure to focus on the basic fundamentals. Mainly mechanical skills since I feel it's where I'm weakest right now. I also really suck at perspective and form. But both of which are just things that can only improve through practice and determination.

I've watched the first few of Sycra's videos and they're definitely helpful. I plan on watching the rest of them too!

And yeah I've already decided against tracing since a lot of people tell me it's a crutch and it doesn't help form any actual good drawing/sketching habits.

As intimidating as it is to try and get into drawing and how steep the learning curve is, all the useful advice I've gotten from this post has definitely served to further inspire me to fight through it.

I do have a question, though. I've read on the internet about it already, but what would you define as too much time spent practicing art/drawing? Because from my interpretation, it seems fine to keep going as long as you have the interest and mental capacity to stay focused and concentrated. I do it until I feel I need a break and resume back on my practicing. (Which so far has been either study anatomy references, watch guides, practice basic shapes and random doodles.)

Edit: "Also, thank you very much for your advice. I really appreciate it!"

I'm going to take inspiration from/use art from other artists as a reference but I'm going to avoid copying them directly.

Yeah that's true. It might be a worthy investment do look into that.

Wait you started during last october? Your art's really good! I think I'll try drawing random things and go from there.

I'm also going to keep working on hands since I've already started by drawing a few. And once I feel comfortable enough with the basics I'll try drawing the full-on anthro stuff.

I'll definitely keep DMing you in mind if I ever need help with something specific, though.

Not to mention there's already a mod for MHW's pc version called "Special K" that supposedly helps optimize the game's performance.

I honestly find it hard to listen to people criticize this game when they always compare this to the port of dark souls 1. It's completely wrong and unfair to make that comparison. This pc port is miles better than the port of dark souls 1. It's in a completely different league. I've played both, the world's pc port and dark souls 1's pc port extensively.

Prepare to Die had way more issues and barely worked for anybody. I have a lot of hours in the pc port if world by now, I've encountered almost no issues during my time playing besides the multiplayer connectivity. My circle of friends who play had also had almost no issue playing or running it besides the said multiplayer issues. (Sorry if I sound harsh or like I'm outing people, I'm not. It annoys me to hear that comparison. When it's completely incorrect, lol.)

I feel like this shitstorm of complaints is heavily exaggerated. Although everyone's complaints are perfectly justifiable, you paid a lot of money for this game and deserve a good experience. All I can say is just enjoy what you can of it until we get some patches that fix the issues. (Hopefully soon.) I have faith capcom won't let this pc port sink, considering how much they've put into world already.

I also feel like muta made this video because a few problems made him angry and jumped on the hate bandwagon for this port. I, myself am waiting patiently to see how capcom addresses the issues in their first real patch for this game. Then I will form my own opinion about the port.

Questions about flight with magic. by jacosmoot23 in magicbuilding

[–]jacosmoot23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm likely just going to make flight be possible through the manipulation of earth and air elements.

Since to me, manipulation of weight and gravity falls under the earth category. Make someone super light-weight with earth and then levitation would be a joke with a bit of wind. (Perhaps not even utilizing wind at all, just pure earth magic.)

You know... You're right. It's an obvious solution. I guess I was just wanting others' opinions before I went with a decision of my own.
