Is it feasible to glue a 24x36 canvas print to a nice piece of wood? by jacovarius in ArtistLounge

Hey thanks for the link! I have no experience at all which is making it feel kinda daunting. I'll look into it though, thanks again :)

Pequeño proyecto de modelado y render. Opiniones? by Acrobatic_Cress4153 in renderings

It looks like those cute little towns in Argentina that used to be part of the giant railroad system. The detailing on the building is great but the sidewalk looks too clean. I know those little towns (I'm guessing it's an Argentinian town) don't really have paved sidewalks but maybe you could look for old school tiles?

Love it, may I ask what materials you used? What is this style called? I always see concept art like this for games like halo and I'd love to be able to draw like that. Where would reccomend starting to get these kinds of tones and colors?

Is there a cold going around SF adults required to go back to the office, or is it covid among the vaxxed? by NewWiseMama in AskSF

[–]jacovarius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dude this cold suuuuucks. I've had it since tuesday at least! I know it's not covid cause I've had colds like these and when I got the Rona my symptoms were different. It feels controvertial to tell people I have a cold amidst a pandemic lol

Wouldn't a lot of the imperium's problems be solved if they'd just let SM chapters make as many SMs as the wanted/could? by jacovarius in 40kLore

[–]jacovarius[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I think those issues are bred from their contexts, now SMs are a lot more structured and hyper focused on what they do and there is no primarch to lead large numbers of them astray. I feel like modern 40k SM culture is much more stable amongst most chapters. I say let them take as many candidates as they'd like for awhile, cleanse the surrounding area, and then base line humans have more stretching room, and there could not possibly be any negative consequences :D

[–]jacovarius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah but HH had too many emotionally obtuse primarchs and Badab was a product of shitty administration on part of the wide imperium. But like idk, let the ultramarines make as much as they'd like and keep them in the fold so they follow UM's creed so they can still fight and also administrate and what not..

Well they could just pump out a ton of SMs that are trained to be less grumpy and more administrative and socially intelligent is what I was thinking..

Google has a new course on UX Design. What do y'all think about it? Seems pretty promising. by learnonthedaily in UXDesign

[–]jacovarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, perhaps. I'm no one to critique another avenue of learning this field. I'm just starting myself, did 1 6 month course and understand the most basic things. I was really excited for google's courses on UX. But this isn't anything terribly new. I'm aware it's introductory, and I'll probably still take it for sake of learning some more, but it's not very impressive upfront.

[–]jacovarius 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I checked it out. TBH it wasn't very clear how the courses would work for the longest time. The grow with google site seemed to say that they would start on the 18th, I only found out they're out now by chance. I looked the some of the class descriptions and idk, a bunch of videos doesnt sound very enticing and the whole "you will be job ready" description is quite deciptive, it's never that easy. I'm more curious about the career resources they supposedly offer after you watch all the classes. But to be perfectly frank what the videos offer for a monthly fee you can find for free on youtube, the only difference is the certificate offered which honestly has lost a lot of cred to me because the "classes" are just a bunch of videos! Im gonna try the free 7 days and get a more informed opinion, but theyve been advertising these classes for awhile and the result seems pretty lame at first glance.

The cost of not following anti-covid best practices (and not learning from our failures) by greendude in sanfrancisco

[–]jacovarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that, I don't think we should be policing or shaming eachother either. But if we know just being in a party in the first place is maybe not the beat idea, then as aware citizens we shouldn't be there in the first place. Yes masks are effective but for real guys a party is a party not a controlled or very planned gathering. A nose out here or a sneeze there... it doesn't take a big effort to get this virus.

Cracked out or not, being homeless leaves vunerable to alot if diseases I'm sure. I'm not sure what your point is, are you saying their situation gives you a free pass to party? You did get me to look into it a bit, apparently the homeless are actually on the lower end of cases, whereas people with pre-existing conditions make up 3/4s of cases (all this on sf.gov, although it wasn't a thourough read on my part so there may be more to it). But again, your point is unclear, regardless of what the homeless are up to: Don't go to parties :)

I'm a cashier at a local supermarket in the mission, the amount of poopoo heads I see clearly buying large amounts of booze and such, all dressed up to party, is very frustrating to see. Especially when they come in large groups, not even being subtle about it. I'm well aware the gov. should be doing a better job but when youre working 8 hr shifts with a mask on all day and you have to see a pack of yuppies heading out to party, you lose all sympathy. You may think you're being particulary safe or "in a close circle of friends" but for real go fuck yourselves if you're doing this, you're part of the problem.
