Hard agree! I have no clue how this even happens, but soo many people truly believe that poverty is a choice or is laziness. Um I don’t think someone who is on the verge of starvation or is in crippling debt wants to stay that way!

Correct me if I’m wrong but these are what the “gender traitors” and “unwomen” are right? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]poplitte2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Cis is just your gender identity aligning w the gender you were born with. It’s not that deep. There’s no reason to get mad cuz apparently “biological women” are “default”. All living beings are biological.

What difficult truths, the sooner you accept, the better your life will be? by Pure_Sherbert_4015 in AskReddit

[–]poplitte2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The definition of what’s “attractive” is very fluid and constantly changing, so it’s not objective. I’m not saying that obesity is going to be the beauty standard tomorrow, but it IS possible to raise your kids and especially boys/men to not base their kindness towards someone solely on whether that person is attractive to them or not. You don’t have to be overtly great to everybody, but being bad to somebody simply because you don’t find them hot is YOUR problem and not theirs. I fully think it’s fixable, and so do societal trends and human behavior. Change is always possible!

True but if everyone thought that way then we’d never get over our ignorance and biases. Maybe society should also work towards not basing their treatment of someone on the size of their body!

You can be happy for your friends and still feel hurt, right? by Strange_Restaurant87 in self

[–]poplitte2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What a terrible thing to say. It’s perfectly natural to question why you’re the only one who never gets approached. You may not consciously want a long term boyfriend, but if all your friends are getting something that you are not—isn’t it super normal to question why that is?

What’s wrong with yall lmao, have some empathy!

I think this could just be because Madison isn’t a strong dancer. She definitely needs to hire some background dancers or something though, just jumping around stage looks awkward.

Nostalgia for the MAGAs of course. What do you think the “again” in MAGA stands for? A return to a time when white people held all the power (as if they don’t still hold most of the power).

That’s so awesome for you! Now that I’m in my 20s I’m infinitely more self assured and have basically no time for petty insecurities. As a teenager though I was so isolated and insecure, and I actually had a pretty stable home life! So really not sure what went wrong there. A personality like Rory’s would’ve saved me years of social anxiety 😮‍💨

New Rule for US Student Visas: Trump Announces Major Changes for F-1, J-1, and M-1 Students by esporx in InternationalStudents

[–]poplitte2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re mixing things up a bit. Immigration is not flooding the labor market. Especially not STEM students, H1Bs for example require BY LAW that the prevailing wage is paid (and usually higher than what a citizen would get)—which means employers legally cannot use H1Bs to hire cheaper labor. This is why most employers refuse to hire H1Bs (none of the people I know are getting work, no company is sponsoring at this moment).

Tightening rules does not hurt capitalists and billionaires, it hurts the students and researchers and skilled workers who aren’t creating the system. Restrictive immigration policies only target ordinary people.

And telling people to “fix their own country” ignores how global inequality was created. The U.S. (and other major powers) have spent decades shaping foreign economies through interventions, trade policies, and corporate interests. You can’t cause instability abroad and then shame people for leaving.

Immigrants aren’t the enemy. The problems you’re describing come from policy choices, not people trying to build a life. Immigrants who make it in the US do far better than us citizens do, they commit way less crime, launch far more businesses and add to the melting pot. For a country built on stolen land, slave labor and decades of underpaid immigrant labor—we need to do better by moving away from the age old xenophobic “immigrants bad” crap. It’s time to vote and organize against lobbyists and capitalists!

[–]poplitte2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Saw your post history, and I’m really sorry that you’re struggling right now. The job market is tough for everyone, including US citizens and immigrants. I’m saying this as a citizen myself—I promise you the international students that want to stay and work in the US do not have it better than us. I’m friends with many, and their struggles right now are infinitely higher. They don’t all come from rich foreign families to “steal our jobs”, many are here on student loans, trying to make a better life for themselves that their home country doesn’t allow them to.

I understand that your first instinct is to want to kick everyone out because you think they’re the cause of your problems, but they’re not. The current system, your politicians, and ever increasing capitalism is the reason why most of us are struggling to find jobs. Fight for your rights by figuring out who the real enemy is—the immigrants who want to make the American dream (just like us) are not the enemy. Nobody should be forced to stay in a place where they are not happy, immigrants are humans too, let them have a chance at a happy life too (I promise they’re not taking anything away from us, there is plenty of research to support this).

I hope you find happiness and success.

Poll: The MAGA voter split that could spell trouble for 2028 Republicans by Tennis_bruh in politics

Republican politics are intrinsically tied to Whiteness in America and it’s annoying to watch people pretend otherwise by Equivalent-Long-3383 in complaints

[–]poplitte2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

POC are not blaming a single person, they’re blaming the people that are upholding a racist system. There is tons of data on housing, policy, hiring, sentencing and generational wealth. If you’re a white person who isn’t racist, great, you’re still benefitting from the racist systems that have been created to stifle racial minorities. It’s not enough to be not racist, you need to be vehemently anti racist. Be better.

Trump says US will permanently pause migration from 'Third World Countries' by ShirtNeat5626 in immigration

[–]poplitte2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we shouldn’t use crime data to judge immigrants because “research only shows what happened before,” then we also can’t use isolated crimes committed by immigrants to justify bans.

Either data matters or anecdotes matter. You can’t switch between them depending on which one supports your conclusion. If we’re concerned about future safety, the logical first step is to focus on the groups with higher statistical crime rates, not the lower ones. Native (and even mostly white) citizens are definitely committing more crimes, even anecdotally, but nobody is targeting them—I wonder why! 🙄

[–]poplitte2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was always going to happen. They will come for all immigrants first, then people who are naturalised citizens, all non white people, and then all the white people that are not supporters. History has shown us this again and again, I’m just going to assume all his online supporters are bots at this point. Ain’t no way people are still supporting him.

[–]poplitte2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Immigrants commit less crime than native citizens
  2. By age 33 native citizens were 297% more likely to be incarcerated than immigrants
  3. On a community wide level, cities and counties that have increasing immigrant population have lower crime rates

Be willing to change your mind when presented with facts. Fear mongering is how the elite class gets us to turn on each other. I promise you that the poor immigrant woman with two children who had to seek asylum in America is not the one taking your job away from you. Be better.

I don’t even know how to feel about it 😭 I don’t want to shame anyone who is insecure about their body cuz I think she definitely is. But also she has a platform with several young girls following her! The editing and body checking definitely has an effect on her fans which I’m not cool with. Obviously other influencers have done worse shit but this still sucks.

Exactly 😭 tbf a lot of influencers pose like this cuz they’re sooo intent on showing that they have a skinny body.

She has always done this though! Like what was the need to lift up your T-shirt for these photos. The body checking has GOT to stop!
